Linda's obituary
Linda Rae Eirich (Swanberg)
September 28, 1956 - October 15, 2021
Linda Rae Eirich passed away peacefully on the morning of October 15, 2021 surrounded by her husband and children. She had very courageously been battling cancer for 12 years.
Linda was born September 28, 1956 in Kirkland, Washington to Raymond George Swanberg and Maureen Sheila (Etscheid) Swanberg. She was born in the Kirkland hospital in the heart of downtown Kirkland (now the Heathman Hotel) and was the youngest of 3 children. She graduated from Lake Washington Highschool in 1975, where she was a star in gymnastics. Shortly after high school, Linda met the love of her life, Rick Eirich, while working at the old Kirkland Safeway together. They were married on July 29, 1979 and a year later, had their first child, Kathleen (Katie), followed by Ryan in 1984, and Kristen in 1986. Linda worked as an orthodontic assistant for 35 years, and was well regarded and loved for her patience and gentle demeanor in the field.
Linda lived a wonderful life in Kirkland for 62 years, but her heart was calling to be closer to the beaches of the Puget Sound. In 2019, Rick and Linda moved to Camano Island and found a new sense of home close to the water. After living in Kirkland her entire life, this was a welcome and refreshing change; one which made her feel very much at peace.
Linda was most proud of the family she and Rick raised and was so happy when everyone was gathered together, and especially when her grandkids were around.
Even through the toughest journey of her life, Linda never lost sight of the things that mattered the most: making sure people felt loved and cared for, spending time creating memories with her family and friends, appreciating the beauty of nature and companionship of her animals, and starting the day with a hot cup of tea and ending with a cold, crisp glass of chardonnay. As challenging as her road got, she remained positive, upbeat, and without complaint. That’s exactly how Linda lived her life, and one of the many reasons she is so heavily missed.
Linda will always be remembered for her gentle, kind, easy, and nurturing spirit. Whether it be friends, neighbors, or even strangers, she cared for people and always had time for anyone. No one will ever know how many people whom she cast her sweet smile and bright light on. She truly devoted her life to caring for her family and helping others. Linda was a devoted and caring wife, daughter, mother, and Omi (her grandmother name). She was the heart and soul of her family and she forever leaves behind a very empty void with her passing.
Linda leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Richard (Rick) Eirich; her children, Michelle Whorley (JJ), Katie Jones (Jason), Ryan Eirich (Shelley), and Kristen Cornell (Tyler) and her grandchildren, Cole & Blake Whorley, Wyatt & Kaden Jones, Molly & Quinn Cornell, and Winnie Eirich. She is also survived by her mother, Maureen Swanberg and brother, Raymond Swanberg. Linda is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Swanberg and her sister, Susan Walker.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the Camano Center: 606 Arrowhead Rd, Camano Island, WA 98282
