Linda's obituary

Mrs. Linda Faye Chancy, age 74 of Blackshear, was called home to Heaven on Monday morning (3/13/23) at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 17, 1948, in Brunswick, GA, she was a daughter of the late William Cottingham and Myra Faye Williamson Wiggins. She was employed and retired as a ward clerk at Memorial Hospital and Satilla Regional Medical Center (now Memorial Satilla Health), where she aided with the care of hundreds of patients for 31 years.

Mrs. Chancy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school during her children’s formative years.

She was known for her loving and calm demeanor and will be remembered as a loving and faithful wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather who raised her, Joe Wiggins.

Survivors include her husband, James Wade Chancy of Blackshear; her children, Dena West (husband Mark I), of Blackshear, and Tom Crawford (wife Annemarie) of Richmond Hill; her stepchildren, Roger Chancy (wife Rachel) of Bowling Green, KY and Shelly Castillo (husband George); 8 grandchildren, Brittney King (husband Shawn), Brandon Foreman (wife Ashley), Meagan West, Mark Daniel West ll (wife Caitlyn), Thomas Crawford, Jackson Crawford, Annalin Crawford, and Christina Castillo; 3 great grandchildren, Abbie Foreman, Easton King, and Banner King; and several other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Thursday (3/16/23) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Offerman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening (3/15/23) from 6-8 p.m.

The family would like to graciously thank Hospice Satilla for the excellent care provided and request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
