I’m deeply sorry for your loss. Linda was such a kind and strong person. And I truly admire you and Ana were always there to support Linda, keeping her smile alive. Back in California, during my own tough times, it was three of you who always gave me strength. Please know that my thoughts are always with you, and if there is anything I can do for you, don’t hesitate to let me know. For now, I hope you and Ana can take some time to rest and take care of yourselves - Keisuke
I am so sorry for your loss. I am very sad. I love Linda’s smile, her cute eyes when she was surprised, her voices when she spoke to, her kindness she always showed. I don’t have many memories of her, but I love her. I loved to see you & Linda were chatting. I loved when you talked about Linda. You’ve worked for her happiness with your amazing efforts, impressive personality. Sorry these are random messy texts. I am very sad that I’m not able to see her - Yuko
We are deeply shocked to hear of Linda’s sudden passing. I hope you will overcome this sorrow very soon - Sachiko

I remember that "doll" she dragged around. Really a branch with arms !!She was so stubborn, nag nag nag until I couldn't stand it and I'd say ok ok ok !!! - Lally
So long to the bravest person I have ever known. You were shortchanged and a piece of my heart will always be carved out for you. Goodbye Leader - Sam
Two days after CAFE opened Linda called me and said she was proud of me.
When we went skiing I remember hurtling down the slopes, wiping out, falling violently into giant moguls and emerging as a white shape covered in snow, peering up the trail and seeing Linda meticulously skiing a pre planned path down the mountain, performing turns with graceful fluid motions, nary a speck of snow upon her ski parka. She always seemed to know where she was heading and confidently followed that path. This was the adult Linda also. Starting at the age of 13 she always said she wanted to be editor of Rolling Stone magazine. She loves music, she loved books, she loved writing, and I have no doubt Rolling Stone magazine missed out on the best thing that never happened to them.
When Linda was 12 she formed a spy club and we were fortunate enough to be members. She was the leader. We would meet in the basement and talk about neighbors and why they may need to be spied upon. She would conjure up fantastic backstories and she would always take copious notes in the club’s off limits journal which was filled with all manners of top secret stuff. We knew that because Linda told us so. We filled many lazy afternoons and weekends performing spy club responsibilities, from crawling around in ditches checking out the neighbors to climbing trees seeking the enemy(whoever that was).
Linda was always the leader of the little Johnsons, not only because she was older, but because she was wiser. I would have followed her anywhere when I was five years old and spent many proceeding summers and years doing so. She radiated a cool calmness imbued with confidence and a slight tendency towards the mischievous. At the age of two she slathered my head with Crisco and then mashed Corn Flakes into that Crisco, leaving my head coated in an impenetrable crusty outer layer that was only removed by some serious scrubbing by mom.

My heart is with you all right now. If it is any consolation, I genuinely believe she was greeted by Frank, hung with him for a while, bitched about politics, and then headed out for a long run. I also believe that she has the best seat in the house for Jess and Hugo's wedding. She's no longer restricted by that damned tumor and its residual effects.

Huge love to you all - Kristin

My deepest condolences Hugo! Your mom will definitely be missed.  - Titus
Linda was a trailblazer and showed me that no matter what, women could do whatever they wanted to do with their lives. And she did just that - Liz
My deepest condolences Victor. I called Ana this morning and she said Linda passed away. I so sad because you like my family to me. She’s a very nice person and I love her - Cecilia

May Linda rest in peace. I know there’s nothing I can say to make you feel better right now. Please take as much time as you need. Let me know if you ever need anything

-Claire
