Linda's obituary
Linda Grossman Alfonso
June 15, 1943 – January 16, 2026
Linda Grossman Alfonso passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2026, after living with congestive heart failure. She was 82. The daughter of Sara and Fred Grossman, she is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Alfonso and Stefanie Alfonso-Frank, and Stefanie’s wife, Lisa Alfonso-Frank; her three beloved grandchildren, Frederick, Oliver, and Simon; three granddogs; her brother, Martin Grossman, and Marty's wife, Andrea; as well as her nephews and extended family.
Linda was a brilliant and deeply respected matrimonial attorney, practicing for decades in Old Bridge, New Jersey. A trailblazer in her field, she graduated from Rutgers Law School in the 1960s, one of only a handful of women in her graduating class. She went on to become a partner in a law firm and, in the 1990s, founded her own successful practice. Throughout her career, she was known for her sharp intellect, fierce advocacy, integrity, and compassion for her clients.
After retiring, Linda moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren—a role she cherished. She was an avid bridge player, a devoted reader, and a lover of travel.
Linda was kind-hearted, generous, and deeply loyal. She maintained lifelong friendships and had a rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She was truly liked by all who knew her.
Linda will be remembered for her intellect, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and deep devotion that will continue to guide those who loved her.
