Lillie's obituary
Lillie’s education started in Fayetteville City schools and was completed at E.E. Smith High School. While in college, she met and married Arthur Lee Stepp. Their union resulted in the birth of two children. After relocating to Washington, D.C., Lillie met and married Tracy Givens, Sr. and her youngest child was born in 1982.
While living in Washington, D.C., Lillie began working for District of Columbia government until her retirement with Department Office of Personnel. She was a member of Agape Missionary Baptist Church. Lillie knew the Lord and was a firm believer in the power of prayer.
If you knew her, you loved her. She lived a joyful life. Lillie had a love for fashion and was known to hit the dance floor. What she loved most of all was family – even those non-relatives she welcomed into her space as family. Lillie was a mother and grandmother to all.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, Lillie was preceded in death by her siblings Rudolph Holmes, Randolph Holley, Harold Walter Holmes, and Barbara-Jean Patterson. Lillie will be cherished in memory by her loving family; six children, Sonya Patterson (Jerry), Janell Stepp, Chelesa Patterson, Domonique Stepp, Charles Patterson, and Tracy Givens, Jr.; six grandchildren, Carl Straughn, III, Chaneé Patterson, Torrance Patterson, Reginald Patterson, Brea Nelson, and Kennedie Welch-Stepp; five great-grandchildren, Jace Wells, Carli Straughn, Chasity Welch, Karim Patterson, and Jaxson Bryant; four sisters Deloris Lincoln-Willis, Annie Ruth Hayes, Charlesina Smith (Charles) and Cynthia Greene (Jesse); one brother, Larry Gibson; a bonus daughter, Amber Ford Johnson and five additional grandchildren; ¬¬¬and a host of nieces, nephews, family and close friends.
