December 14, 1999 – October 8, 2025
Levi James McClurg entered the presence of his Savior on October 8, 2025, at the age of 25. He found joy in learning and beauty in the order of mathematics, where he saw the hand of God. His life reflected his favorite quote: “Take what the world has to give you and let it make you kind.”
Those who knew him said that is exactly how he lived: curious, kind, and full of faith. Levi loved helping others understand difficult ideas in simple ways.
He had recently completed his master’s degree in mathematics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and was preparing to begin his Ph.D. studies, pursuing his dream of exploring God’s creation through numbers.
Levi traveled to more than twenty nations, with Uganda holding a special place in his heart. He dedicated his master’s thesis to a young Ugandan girl named Robina, whose dream of becoming a teacher inspired him deeply.
He is survived by his loving parents, Craig and Kay Charlotte McClurg; his sister, Taylor; his grandmothers, Nancy Hall, Dorothy Cheatwood, and Bernadine McClurg; and a large extended family who adored him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Eastlake Church, 2351 Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista, California. All are welcome to join as we remember Levi’s life and celebrate the hope we have in God, who is both the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega.
