Lester O’Donald Tompkins was born August 8, 1937 to the late Lester Purnell Thompkins and Arletta Bernice Proctor in Indianapolis, Indiana. After the untimely death of his mother, Lester was raised and nurtured by the loving hands of his grandmother, Louise L. Tompkins Lester accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and later became a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
