Lester's obituary
On December 15th, 2019 our beloved husband, father and brother passed into the arms of his heavenly father.
He was born in Bessemer, Alabama on June 8th, 1948 and joined the Air Force after graduating from Westfield High School. He was initially stationed in Pashawar, Pakistan and was sent to serve in the Vietnam War in 1968. In 1969 he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany where he met his wife Renate. They were married in Alabama in 1972. He ultimately made Germany his permanent home, where he raised 2 children, Marsha and David, with his wife of 47 years. He retired from the Air Force after 22 years and continued to work for the military in a civilian capacity as a retail sales manager for billeting. He retired in 2014 and was able to travel and enjoy gardening and hosting gatherings with his friends. In 2015 he joined Frontline Church and was baptized in 2017 and developed a strong faith that provided him great comfort and joy as his health began to deteriorate. In October of 2019 he was flown to Utah to be closer to his daughter and son. He passed away peacefully on December 15th, 2019 in the presence of his wife and daughter. He is survived by his wife, 2 children, 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters and their children and grandchildren and many cousins. He will be missed by his family and many friends and will be remembered lovingly by all who knew him.
