I am proud to have an uncle who served his country and his family so well. His life was so different from mine, traveling Europe and learning other languages, but he still loved his Alabama family. I have German coins he gave me when I was a little girl stashed in my jewelry box! I was fascinated by his stories. I think of him each time I see them.
Lester was good friend to us for many years. We enjoyed a lot of fun and happy times with him and Renate, especially when the "grillmeister " worked his magic with ribs, steaks and bratwursts at one of their special summer get-togethers.
It was very sad to see the decline in his health over recent years, but he always managed a smile whenever we saw him.
We will miss Lester greatly and always remember him fondly,
Our deepest condolences are with Renate and all the Thomas family at this sad time.

I remember Les Thomas, my closet friend of more than 40 years;

I remember Lester when they bought the home in Spesbach and my first visit, I commended about him planting water melons and corn in the front yard and he responded “my yard!”

We remember being invited to one of his many back yard fest and there were many, where we didn’t know lots of the guest he invited and sometimes I think he didn’t remember either but everyone enjoyed and most came back for years to come and it became an annual fest and we all became acquainted. We all looked forward to next years fest!

I remember Les having yard fests and inviting everyone he knows and some he didn’t for no other reason except for enjoying folks…

I remember Lester and Renate throwing New Years Eve parties over the years because the regulars, Eva and I, Mac, Tony and family; Jack and Rosie, Ralph and many more didn’t know where or what but they love people and they preferred to be at home and just loved entertaining

Eva remember and had the highest respect and regards for Lester and Renate

I remember our “Every Friday Happy Hour” that lasted longer than either of us wanted, but that was our time…But we gained more acquaintances where they looked forward to every Friday at Oscars. Lester acquired friends easily

I remember Lester always being there for me when things weren’t going always as planned. We didn’t always agree but we always got along. And when everything didn’t work Lester advice was to go and get two movies and forget the rest. That was his hobby!

Lester became a movie critic. ET was our favorite; I remember him asking me why the kids were peddling the bicycle wheels when ET was flying them!

We remember Lester; the best friend one come have; rest in peace my brother you are very missed

Eva and Lee Singfield, Forever
