It’s been more than a few weeks since I wrote this but I suppose I knew when I wrote it here, the finality would hit that you are truly gone.
Being miles apart, there were always goodbyes but we left looking forward to the next hello and for thirty plus years, we had plenty. I loved you from the first time I met you and through the years I grew to love you more. I will always remember your smile, always cherish your warmth and be forever grateful for all the memories made in between the hellos and the goodbyes. Rest peacefully Uncle Lester, you will forever be in our hearts.

Dear Gudrun,
Joan and I harbor heartfelt memories of Lester and you manufactured during our 14 days spent together in Russia. Both of you made our trip to Russia more enjoyable . We were in the state of becoming world travelers at the time and so we appreciated much the travel experiences each of you shared with us. At this point in our lives Joan and I have travelled much throughout the world and have made many friends , none of whom we value more then the two pleasant Aussies we cruised with along the Volga. We feel very blessed we came to share quality space time together in Russia with you and Lester. Our sincerest condolences to you Gudrun and to all of Lester’s loved ones who now mourn his Earthly passing. He was a wonderful cheerful person who lived a great life who I believe has not passed- for when I look to the stars next I will have one more to guide me- and I will see Lester.
Love, Peace,
John and Joan Burns

I am so sorry to hear of Lester's passing. So many memories of him at work in the factory. His office used to sit behind mine and he would always be listening to radio national.
My first real job was with Lester and Bob and of course Barry in the office. Sunstate was a great place to work. Volleyball court between the trees on the empty block next door.
All the boys in their thongs and boardshorts, sitting at their benches listening to music.

Very sorry to hear about Lester’s passing. We met Lester and Gudrun in 2010 In Norway and he had kept in contact ever since. He would send photos of his family of which he was so proud and their many trips. Lester would alway put thoughtful and funny posts on our FB and send emails about his life - he had many stories about his grandchildren. Lester was a special person and will be remembered very fondly by us.

My sister and I only met Lester briefly, whilst traveling with Gudrun and Lester in Japan. He was a genuinely good bloke, and we have appreciated the occasional Facebook message over the years. Sincere condolences to Gudrun and family. Lester will be fondly remembered by us both. Sue and Fiona

For 55 years our families shared everything together. You were not only my brother-in-law but also best friend and advisor to Hans and I. Precious memories of travelling the world and Australia together, celebrations of birthdays, Christmas and all significant events, such as the births of our children and grandchildren, will stay forever.
I miss Saturday afternoons when we met of coffee and a glass of wine or two to discuss everything from politics to family events or upcoming vacations.
I miss you so much, Lester.
