Leslie's obituary

Obituary for Leslie Ann Novitski (Scheffler)

February 18, 1961 – January 4, 2026

Leslie Ann Novitski (Scheffler), 64, of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Somerville, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on January 4, 2026. Born on February 18, 1961, in Somerville, she was the daughter of Gloria Charlotte Dennis and Edward Julius Scheffler.

Leslie is survived by her two daughters, Kristen (Novitski) Moyer and Samantha Novitski, whom she loved beyond measure; her cherished grandson, Mason Moyer, her son-in-law, Matthew Moyer and future son-in-law Kyle Tucker. She is also lovingly remembered by her “grand-kitties”Beverly, Mika, and Cece — who brought her endless joy.

A proud graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1979, Leslie briefly attended Delaware Valley College before entering the workforce in 1984 at UPS, followed by a long and dedicated career of nearly 30 years with Redner’s Warehouse Markets, where she formed lasting friendships.

Leslie was naturally creative and artistically gifted. She had an eye for beauty and expression and her creativity shined through everything she touched.

Her passions were many: a true music lover, a devoted photographer, a quiet observer of nature, and was especially a lover of cats. She was a skilled seamstress with a knack for bringing ideas to life through her hands. Photography and music were particularly close to her heart, and she found joy attending concerts with her daughters, capturing the energy of the performers from behind her lens. Some of her favorite artists included Pink Floyd, George Winston, and Ours, amongst many others, whose music provided the soundtrack to her life.

Leslie expressed her love in the most heartfelt way she knew how — through cooking. The kitchen was her sanctuary, where she poured her heart into meals made for family, friends, and anyone who had a place at her table. She was always cooking, always creating, and always giving.

A public memorial gathering to honor Leslie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Limerick Garden of Memories located at 44 Swamp Pike, Limerick PA 19468.

Guests are welcome to arrive for a visitation hour from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM to pay their respects. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, with the family inviting all to stay, share memories, and celebrate Leslie’s life together.

Leslie’s warmth, creativity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the love she shared, the memories she created, and the family she adored.

In lieu of flowers, Leslie requested that donations be made to Charlie’s Army, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN 86-3858693) dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating at risk and special needs cats: https://www.charliesarmy.com
