I remember in 2020, Leslie called me up very concerned.  She asked me if I was Asian.  I was very confused.  Did she not know all this time what ethnicity I was?  

She asked me if others saw me as Asian.  I laughed.  I said I was considered a banana.    “A banana?”  She wasn’t following.  “Yes, a banana.  Yellow on the outside but white on the inside.”  We laughed.  

She explained that she was concerned about the violence that was happening to Asians due to the misunderstandings of COVID.  

I eased her concern, letting her know I lived in a bubble and where I was it was perfectly safe.  

Sweet of her to worry.  I’m glad she now knows that I’m a banana.  🍌
