Oh no… I’m heart broken.  I met Les in 1974, in New Orleans where he was playing at Clarity’s on Bourbon St. A beautiful folk music club, filled with Maxfield Parrish prints, Tiffany lamps and a small stage with a mirror behind it. An oasis from the wildness going on out on the street. I began singing there as well that summer and Les and I became good buddies.  He was so inspiring as a songwriter and guitarist. We shared several stages across south Louisiana before he moved to California. I never met anyone who could meet someone one time and remember their name forever. But that was Les. He inspired everyone he met. He was genuine, talented and a very caring person.  Eventually I lost touch with him, but reconnected by phone sometime in the 80’s when I moved to California.  Just this last Christmas I found his address via white pages. Wish I could have talked with him one more time.  What a lovely man he was. My life would not have been the same having not met him. God speed dear friend. My condolences to Terry and his kids.  💔
"LES MOORE" was 16 when we first met in Orange County !  He was amazingly like DONOVAN .  I had many GRAMMY WINNING ARTISTS I produced him with in  major shows and then packed him into a VAN and he went to NEW ORLEANS where he wanted to record.  The rest is folk rock music history !  My  Beverly Hills # 1-310-552-1000  I was his former  TALENT MANAGER on AVENUE OF THE STARS and NEWPORT BEACH.

I remember Les as one of those rare humans who had no judgement, nor avarice towards life. He was just happy "to be". I never spent much time with him, yet he taught me some things I will never forget. That's a human being's ultimate goal in my opinion. Sail on brother.

Les, was good man, that’s the best eulogy a man can get. I’m sure I was a passing acquaintance, a blip on his journey , but he was  big jump on my radar. He was musically talented, tech savvy, and one heck of a nice fella. My life is richer having met him. Condolences to his family.

 “Rest on High” Brother.

First listened/seen Les in 1997.  Was at the 1st set for the Monday Night All Stars. Bouncer had promised "Motown".

That came later, and I was completely content with that.  Les filled the music bill with exceptional music diversity.  A beautful blend of blues, jazz, soul & New Orleans fusion sounds.  It's sadly that most nites, only 5-10 people would watch Les at center stage. Maybe it was the early start?  Maybe whatever?  It was definately not his skill, song selection, etc.  Les was highly talented and grossly undervauled.  Les set it up....Charles Hairiston was the draw on Monday's(band was was always on music hot. Ya'll are real CLT All Stars.)  No doubt, but he always thanked Les 1+x every show.  One of my favorites was Charles + Les on, "People Get Ready".  It was a stripped down raw unplugged style.

~1998- A Monday Night All Star album came out and, "The Les Set", was totally missing.

As a HUGE fan with 100+ nites at DDI on Monday's---It shoulda been a double or triple LP.

I'm a problem solver.  Got dis...  I approached Les in 1999 for a sound board recording of a famous artist.  He said sure... I asked artist for permision.  Received..  Douplicated same action for DDI Les Set.  Keep in mind.  That was somebody else's CDR plugged in to soundboard. I couldnt use.  Les made me drive home. 5 miles away. Unplug my on phillips cdr and walk thru the DDI with 3 CDRs to capture the all stars + his set.  I made it clear. I want your set. No comment/discontent over the 1998 AS CD.  It was Nov/2003.  6yrs of patronizing DDI monday nite and 1st set.  4yrs of Les providing soundboard bootlegs from the board for Friday/Sat nite shows.

4+ yrs...We devoloped a musical friendship.  He let me sit on the sound board bench, he would give me a play by play of what was musically happpening. The insight was and still is of the highest musical intellict.

So, when I asked to right a wrong.  Asking for a cdr from the sound board of his DDI Monday nite set; he couldnt be more uplifted.  His posture straightened, his music spirits so lifted. He was super envigorated and it came thru on the recording!

He recorded that live set with incredible timing, sounds, dynamics and versatilty. It's of the highest quality musicianship from Les and everyone involved.

I have the only known copy of that Les set.  Maybe his last recording?  He gave me that performance/CDR outta freindship and mutual love for music +$20 and a budweiser. Lol... He didnt care about $$/Budwieser, but I wanted to show some appreciation, as I knew what he liked. I was only 20s and didnt have enuff to give him more. His was about... It was about the deep love of music and he knew I had the same as a younger that should be listened to radio grunge/pop/hip-hop/mainstream.

I'll be uploading the "Les Set" to Youtube for everyone to enjoy. I think its a Les "Fav. Hits" set.  "Magazine Counter" is included.   He was around 52 at the tome of recordind and definately knew his sound and style.  PIease give me time, I need a week or 2.  My home was recently 2/3 destroyed.  I got sheet all over the place. Im currently over whelmed. Feel free to text me for a link.  Ph. 704-724-2024.  Its a free link.  I make $0.00 off youtube, regardless of any adds u see.

Last Les statement--  We spoke and analized music so much at that board.  Im not a musiician..., but  he knew I had similar ears and flavors.  Les gave me the best musical recommendation of all time. Van Morrison and "The Healing Game" album.  I have 2k + cds, albums and his suggestion turned out to be my favorite album/CD of all time.  Les knocked it out of the park on that recommedation. Maybe one of his top 10 albums of all time?

I will always remember and have always been thankful to Les and all he blessed me with musically, as a fan.

Les is special, always has been and always will be. Thanks to Les and to his family, god bless. He was really special.

"I want it badly - I ain't-a-kiddin” said Les, with a beer bottle meant to serve as a guitar slide. How lucky are we, not only to have him on our record, but to be able to hear his voice. That's a thing I never even contemplated about losing someone I loved. That I wouldn't hear their voice again. Maybe it's a musician thing, but to hear something is to really feel something.

As a music-obsessed kid, Les Moore was larger than life. A real-life rambling man. Bob Dylan with a bit more blues, a touch more Texas. God, was he funny.

All my life I heard about the famous Double Door. My dad would tell me about Eric Clapton stopping in for a late-night show. As a kid who grew up on SRV, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Clapton, jazz & blues, imagine meeting the guy who was in the house band. There's a lot in my life to be grateful for. The fact that Les got us into the Double Door remains one of my greatest accomplishments, small as it may seem. If you walked in there with Emily, you might as well have been with Eric Clapton himself. They loved her, because she was, and remains, inextricably linked to him. Maybe they knew, the way we all did, that Emily was going to go on to become something special.

Les was always a mystery. Two people. A father and husband who lived in Matthews, of all places. A musician and a rambler.  A complicated person, at war with himself, and certainly unkind to himself because of it. Of his many accomplishments, his children are undeniably his greatest. Second to that would be his gift of music.

I have never said this to anyone. When he first recorded the tracks for the Verdict record, it wasn't even close to what I had in mind. I had some different type of solos, some different kind of accompaniment in my head. But it was LES MOORE on our record, so I carried on and didn't give it another thought. I don't often go back to those tunes, but as fate would have it, a few months ago I did. Incredible how those parts sound today. How much more sense they make. Les always saw something I couldn't. Time and music moved differently for him. He did not need to fill the white space. He was happy to play within it. What a juxtaposition to be so comfortable being still in music, while so relentlessly restless in life.

Somewhere along the line, in no particular order, I quit music, Les left town, and Emily doggedly pursued this dream of hers. Les was a man of a particular era and circumstance, so he wasn't much for verbalizing emotions (at least in my memory). He let his music do most of the talking. I can't help but wish that I could have talked to him about Emily. This  talented, beautiful, and hilarious kiddo that he had a lot to do with. On stage at the Grammys. At the White House. Seeing parts of this beautiful world that most will never see and can only dream of. Inextricably linked, even now.

You could travel the world ten times over and never find another Les. In that way, he truly was, and remains, larger than life.

An incredible influence in my musical career.  Inspired me to figure out how to run my own sound and make sure the sound was evenly distributed as opposed to just loud.  He put up with my young overplaying lead guitar and explained how to make fewer notes that made a difference.  And so incredibly nice, humble, patient and understanding.  And of course incredibly talented at the six strings.  Very sad to hear this.  My thoughts are with his family and friends.
So sorry to hear this. Les was such a huge part of the Charlotte music scene, and such a good friend to so many. Spent many nights standing by the sound board in The Double Door talking and laughing with Les about anything and everything. You were and always will be an Allstar. Rest easy my friend.
Oh my! This one is a hard one for me. I spent many nights at the board with Les. Funny and talent are words that best describe Les for me. A powerhouse musician and friend. Although I've not heard from him in many years, he was a profound influence of kindness and acceptance to me. I will miss Les for the rest of my life here on this earth. Godspeed to Les Moore and I have much love and sorrow at the passing of my dear dear friend.
I am so sorry to hear of Les’s passing. I didn’t know him well, but his selfless impact in sharing his love of music and the guitar with my family is a great memory… our families got together for dinner and Les brought his red beans and rice… after dinner he delighted all by tuning and playing my son’s guitar - and the house was filled with such an intense soulful sound! ♥️🎶
Lee, was such a nice, kind, and fun person to see out and about and an incredible musician. RIP
Remembering the one & only, Les Moore. Les touched a lot of people, & was truly a kind, talented man. Sending love & healing to his family.

Les was a great sound man and even better guy.  He always had the Double Door sounding so good, was like listening to your stereo at home.

I loved Monday nights when Les would come out first and play 4-5 acoustic songs before Charles came on. His last song was usually Into the Mystic. He’d start  alone then the band would come up and build into what Les called a beautiful thing.

I’d go to Tys where he had the gig before he brought it to the Double Door and he always sounded excellent.  Les gave many musicians a place to play in the Charlotte area and many may not have gotten heard without his open mic night.

My heartfelt condolences to Emily ,  Conor and the rest of the family.

RIP Les.
