Leroy's obituary

In Loving Memory of Leroy Webb

November 11, 1932 – October 28, 2025

On November 11, 1932, in Mobile, Alabama, Leroy Webb was born to Edward and Lolette Webb. He grew up surrounded by his siblings — Dorothy, Clifford, Marie, Edward, and Loretta all bound by deep southern roots and strong family ties.

After his mother’s passing, Leroy made a bold and determined choice at just sixteen years old: he attempted to join the United States Navy. Though he initially fibbed about his age and was turned away. True to his resilient spirit, Leroy returned the very day he turned seventeen, and this time he was accepted, beginning what would become a long and honorable military career.

Leroy proudly served from 1951 until his retirement in October 1983, through the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and countless duty stations overseas. He faced every challenge from hardship to discrimination with courage, persistence, and unshakable resolve. During his service, he completed his education, earned numerous commendations, and built a legacy of steadfast loyalty and integrity. His fellow sailors remembered him as a man who never backed down and who always stood firm for what was right.

Following his military retirement, Leroy continued serving his country as an employee of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where he worked until 1985.He then began a long career of property management and then retried. He later settled in Sacramento, California, where he lived until his illness.

Leroy will forever be remembered for his love of fishing and his adventurous spirit. He was known to rise before sunrise, head to his favorite fishing spot, and stay until the sky turned dark his car headlights serving as his lantern. Those who fished with him quickly learned his rules: patience, stamina, and old school technique. Fishing brought him peace, solitude, and joy. Sometimes he’d disappear for days with just his gear and a quiet lake, and that was all he needed.

Leroy was funny, raw, and unapologetically direct. His sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude often came with a side of humor that he hoped others took with a grain of salt. Beneath his tough exterior was a softer heart. If you told him, “I love you,” he’d respond with his signature line:

“Me you too, sometimes.” And even though it sounded rough, everyone who knew him understood that was Leroy’s way of expressing his love.

On October 28, 2025, at the age of 92, Leroy passed away peacefully at the Veterans Hospital in Martinez, California, surrounded by loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lolette Webb, and his siblings Dorothy Alexander, Marie Shields, Edward “Bubba,” and Clifton Webb. He is survived by his sister Loretta Green his daughters Aurelia Thomas and Zenobia Alimorong, son-in-law Daniel Alimorong, his son Leroy Jr., stepdaughter Wanda, stepson Franklin Miles, and Step niece Stephanie Ivey. He was preceded in death by his daughter Valerie.

Leroy also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Sirmac Javius, Tashawna Javius, Kyah Javius, LeMarcus Stern, Faith Valerie Stern, Justice Joy Valerie Stern, Daniel Jr, Joseph, Nick, and Vanessa Alimorong, along with a host of extended family and dear friends who loved him deeply.

Leroy Webb lived a long life of honor, grit, humor, and heart. His words were direct, his loyalty unshakable, and his love genuine even when expressed in his own unique way. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
