I miss this guy so much.  He was a USC fan and we went to alot of games together.  He was a stand up guy and cared alot about this friends and family.  He left us way to early.

* Everybody from Raytheon (Ful) knew Kim Loan Restaurant. Dan was with me more than a dozen times to have lunch there, but the most funny time was the first time when we took him there, he sat down and started to sip what he thought  was tea, actually was "nước mắm/fish sauce" . His face after the first sip was adorable... If I remembered correctly, Riki, Mike were there too.

* Around January last year, I planned to visit Vietnam and asked him if he wanted to know the country, eating the actual Vietnamese foods (beside Kim Loan's), and surprised when he said YES but after checking-up with his doctor for some kinds of tests. A few weeks later, he called and told me "it" came back. I ended up to cancel my trip to Vietnam partially because of this. He was 10 year younger than I...

Met Dan when we were in elementary school and we connected all throughout our lives, talked a little bit before he passed! We were buds for life. He is at ease now and no more suffering.

I met Dan in 1999.  He was the "pricer" on the program I was managing, STARS (Standard Terminal and Replacement System).  Basically, all new computers and displays for the FAA air traffic controllers.  We had a mutual interest in sports and especially USC Football and the Angels.  He repurchased my season tickets for many years and we attended many football and baseball games together.  We shared our personal lives and he knew my family and I knew his.  As others have noted, he had a brusk personality, at times, but genuinely cared dearly for his family and friends.  I miss my good buddy and especially while attending the USC games.

I met Dan in 2006 when I started working at Raytheon. We shared an office for many years and I took on the role of his "big sister".  Although he was a bit rough around the edges, he truly loved people and enjoyed taking care of them. He was always on the lookout to protect his friends. One time, he made someone come back and apologize for a joke because he thought I found the joke offensive. Another time, while on a work trip, he called me to make sure I got to the hotel safely. Apparently, I gave him attitude over the phone, and he made sure to remind me of that even after he had retired. It became a running joke for us. I was the one who finally got him to say good-bye to his duct-taped flip phone and purchase a smartphone. He graciously put up with my sisterly teasing and some slight scolding every now and then. What is a sister for, right? But don't worry, I didn't walk all over him. He had his fair share of pranks for me.

I saw him through some career lows, and he saw me through some formative early career experiences. We kept in touch during my sabbatical from Raytheon and after he retired. I am glad that he made it to my wedding. My parents and most of my siblings went to greet him as an extended member of our family.

We discussed religion and faith a lot over the years. When he started his battle with cancer, we discussed suffering in-depth and looked at examples in the Bible, such as Job. We prayed together over the phone, in person (while he was still strong enough to go out to eat) and in the hospital. On the Saturday before he passed, he told me he loved me and that he was ready to be with Jesus.

My brother, I have faith that I will see you once again in heaven.

Dan was a veey good friend.  We met in 1999. He helped me as the PM with pricing on the STARS Program.  He was a solid USC fan (Go Trojans),  we attended many games together and shared great memories.  I will miss him and still cannot grasp that he has left us.
Dan was a good friend. One of the few people that have got in contract with me after retiring. He had planned to visit us in Scotland but it never worked out. I’ll miss his calls and meeting up for coffee or a ride to beach when we were back in town. I am glad I was able to see him in his last days while we were in town in June. I want to thank all those that faithfully care for him until his end. For this thank you very much.
Dan always greeted me with a smile saying" Hi, what's going on?",  What's new with you?,before I could get out my work question. His greeting made me pause for a moment to make the visit personal, causing me  to smile and not be so serious! The brief sharing, the laugh or the concern he had for me as to why my daughter went to UCLA and not USC - was Dan!  Writing this puts a smile on my face.  Later, his face would light up as our chats were about USC when my son was attending - wanting to hear about my son's journey as a Trojan student.  Rest is Peace Dan, enjoy the Trojans from above. - Fight On!  Judy
I sat across the hall from Dan for many years at work and will forever remember sitting in his office in the afternoon for coffee time, laughing about his birthday cake that fell in the parking lot but was still eaten, trying to give him 4 quarters for a Lotto ticket (when he only wanted dollar bills), and hearing him say "Oh Brother".  Miss you Dan The Man
Dan was a true friend to me, especially when/after I left Raytheon and moved to the East Coast. We talked on the phone a lot, and always got together for lunch and other events when I came back to SoCal to visit my kids and grandkids. These last several months were really tough on him, but we talked and prayed together often. I'm sorry I did not get to say "goodbye" to him in person. Rest in peace, Dan, you will always be in my heart!
