Leonard's obituary

Leonard Campbell was born on August 18, 1932 in Content, St. Catherine, Jamaica to the late Enoch Campbell and Lilian (Rowe) Campbell. Leonard departed this life on November 20, 2023.

Leonard received his education in the Old Harbour Bay School System.

In 1955, he moved from the Parish of St. Catherine to Cockpitt District in Clarendon, Jamaica where he worked as a builder and started his family.

Leonard migrated to the United States on June 21, 1970 and made Baltimore, Maryland his home. Beginning in 1976, Leonard would start the process of sending for his children to join him in the United States. He became a United States citizen on August 15, 1980.

Leonard’s first place of employment was at Bethlehem Steel until he took the position of paint spray foreman at Master Painting Company, Inc. in October 1971. He worked there until May 1984. He the went on to work as a painter at Louis E. Wirtanen and Sons, Inc. until he retired. He simultaneously ran his own business offering interior and exterior painting services.

Leonard enjoyed working and providing for his family. He was an avid gardener and was known in his neighborhood for his tomatoes. He loved to watch the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens and he enjoyed playing the Maryland Lottery weekly.

He is preceded in death by his two brothers; son Rupert Campbell; daughter Pamella Campbell and son Donald Campbell (Brenette Sabedra-Campbell).

Leonard leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Joan Campbell, Maxine Campbell and Francine Campbell; one son Earl Campbell; granddaughter and caretaker, Monique Lee (and family); many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
