I'm typing this in a literal state of shock knowing Leona has passed away.  I was so fortunate enough to meet Leona when I was a police officer and I responded to a call at her home (her neighbor had pulled up the flowers she had placed in the space between their parking spaces).  My partner didn't want to take a report since he thought it was a "civil" matter.  I took the report as a vandalism since I could see Leona was really upset.  She sent me a thank you card to the police station and after that, we literally became friends.  I was lucky enough to be invited to one of her Scrooge Parties.  The flyer she gave me said not to park near her house or the car would be towed away.  As a joke, I arrived in my police car and promptly put fake tickets in everyone's windshield wiper.  My contribution to the Christmas tree (with the top cut off) decorations was a set of hand cuffs I had to cut off of a suspect at jail because the key broke off inside the cuffs.  I later left the police department and as friendships often do, I lost touch when I started moving around the planet.  Her name popped into my mind today when I went by a print shop.  I'm sorry this eulogy seems so one sided.  I'm so shocked reading this obituary and so sad because she's gone.  I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm heartbroken because I lost a friend that made such an impression on me that after meeting Leona about 36 years ago, I can still remember her name, birthday (because we had similar birthdates), and that warm and always friendly smile.  Leona, I type this with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes.  I hope we see each other again soon.  I have stories to tell you about my new rescue puppy from Riyadh.  My other dog, Sweetie absolutely loved you.  We all do.

I have known and loved my friend Leona for over 35 years and knew her to be an amazing human being that had a love for animals and people.bshe would give you the shirt off her back and was blessed to have her as a friend. Her kindness and compassion for others will make it a huge loss for society. I know she was troubled in the past few years.

I'm so sorry to hear about her passing. God Bless You Bud.

Leona was such a special,  big hearted person, co-worker and roommate. She would call me brother. It is hard to imagine the world without Leona in it.  I will post some photos.

I was so sorry to hear about Leona’s passing.  Our families always seemed connected, dating back to Madrid.

I often think of you all, and I  miss your mom.  She was the definition of a friend to my mother.

She loved you all so much and always kept me updated about you guys. I hope they are having a heavenly and beautiful reunion in heaven.

My condolences to Jennifer and Michelle🫶

LEONA

(Jan1965-Dec2025)

☆I met Sis at Taiwanese Hospital-- thirteen months 'tween us, both of us little; she, newborn in Mom's arms-- I, with Nanny, hundred red polka-dots splotted over me.

☆Mutti thought through Sis-birth I got measles-- nope, mosquitoes had feasted through needles; few years later, we sisters got Baby-- "Babe's gonna have happy Life," promised we.

☆One time, Baby 'n' stroller slid away-- Sis quickly flew horizontal their way; she snatched speeding buggy, saving Baby-- Sis was superhero and sweet-crazy.

☆Sis would holster toy guns 'round her wee waist, ready to protect Babe and bad guys chase; she would morph into brave bull-fighter's cape, to distract lion and let lambs escape.

☆After Asia and Europe, came the States-- yet another entry through foreign gates; yes, we're Americans, born through Bases-- yet we felt diff'rent than local faces.

☆In elementary school, Sis was deemed: "troublemaker", from what teachers had seen; in reality, she was bored to tears, her bright intellect outshone her young years.

☆In teens, Sis hip-hopped to Rapper's Delight, fell for Jett's Bad Reputation on sight; she dealt with darkness through numbing her Self, often ran away since nothing else helped.

☆Sis's deeds gifted fairy godmother, who fostered patient Love like no other; she morally lived: "Not Malicious" code, though did cross lines when in survival mode.

☆As my bridesmaid, Sis even wore pink dress-- wish I hadn't been so flippin' thinkless; as an Auntie, she was always much fun-- her inner child knew how playing was done.

☆As adult, Sis gathered grand adventures, which frankly many I've gotta censor! Like time picked up for unpaid parking fines, cop cars got ticketed by one who crimes.

☆As sharp out-of-the-box entrepreneur, Sis bloomed weeds as gardening connoisseur; she lead motorcycle gang, while on her trike-- parading dirndled-man, skirt pride-filled hiked.

☆As a raised atheist, Sis explored all-- including what's beyond earthly fourth wall; she said her purpose was saving the world-- plus at heart, she was puppy lovin' girl.

☆How does one sum up the Life of a Star, when her multiple rays reach wide and far? All I know is an obituary cannot capture Leona's Life for me.

☆I love you, sweet sister and my first friend, from before beginning, beyond this 'end'; the unconditional love you gave me saved me and buoys me through current 'sees'.
