Leo's obituary
Leo Wyatt, age 86, passed away on February 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and steady, unwavering love.
Born on May 12, 1939 to Lundy and Patty Wyatt, Leo lived a life defined by hard work and quiet strength. He owned and operated grocery stores before later working as a car salesman, faithfully providing for his family through decades of dedication. He believed in showing up, doing the job right, and taking care of the people he loved. He was a wonderful mentor along the way.
Above all, Leo was a devoted husband. He married the love of his life, Margaret Meade, on July 3, 1959. For nearly 67 years, he adored his beloved wife, Margaret. Their marriage was the foundation of his life: loyal, committed, and full of deep affection. Everyone who knew Leo knew how deeply he cherished her. She was his greatest earthly treasure.
His faith in God guided him throughout his life. It shaped the way he loved, the way he worked, and the way he treated others with humility, integrity, and kindness.
Leo found joy in fishing, horses, and time spent at the beach. He loved being outdoors and being surrounded by his family. He especially treasured time with his lifelong friends and greatly looked forward to attending his Class of 1958 high school reunions. Those gatherings meant the world to him, a celebration of memories, loyalty, and friendships that stood the test of time.
Being ”Dad” and “Papaw” were some of his greatest honors. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him immense pride and joy. He loved deeply and faithfully, and his presence brought comfort and security to those around him.
Leo was steady in every sense of the word- steady in his love, steady in his work, and steady in his faith. The world feels different without his steadiness in it, but the love he built will continue for generations.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his brother, Bill (Anne) Wyatt; his children, Steve Wyatt, Jennifer (Mike) Stanton, and Jeff Wyatt (Michelle); his grandchildren, Kristen (Mario) McMahon, Kourtney (Christian) Sarver, Josh Stanton, Zach Wyatt , and Sophie Wyatt; and his great-grandchildren, Ella, Camden, Carter, and Cash McMahon. He also leaves behind many loved ones, dear friends and his faithful dog, Honey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lundy and Patty Wyatt, his brother Fred (Pat) Wyatt, his sister Doreen (Bridge) Sparks, and his twin sister Cleo (Curtis) Hubbard.
The family will gather to honor him for an intimate service on March 5, 2026 at 2pm EST at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. It will be live streamed and recorded for friends, loved ones and anyone unable to attend
