Leo's obituary
Leo Dale Scott, 68, of Peaster, Texas went home to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday evening , Sept. 25, 2022 at his home.
Leo was born August 13, 1954 in Fort Worth, the son of Purvis Dale “Scotty” Scott and Caroll Em (Brown) Scott. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School and received a B.S. degree in business from Northwood University in Cedar Hill.
On June 5, 1975, Leo married his best friend and the love of his life, Susan D. Watkins,
in Arlington. They spent the early years of their life together living in Mansfield, Texas where their two children were born.
He started his work career at the age of 14 working as a trick rider in the Wild West Show at Six Flags over Texas having been trained under J. W. Stoker. His career as a manager and electrician included employment at the Tandy Center, the Trammell Crowell Co in commercial real estate, the GTE International Division in Los Colinas and in Mexico City. He worked for Mueller Inc from 2003 thru 2021.
Leo’s children showed ponies for Ponies of American and together the family traveled across the U.S. from about 1994 to 2002. The taught his children the ethics of hard work and responsibility which was a life lesson not forgotten.
In 1995, Leo and Susan purchased a small ranch in Parker County near Peaster and in 1997 the family moved onto the Dry Creek Ranch where Leo and Susan spent the remainder of their life together. It was here that they eventually raised beautiful Texas Longhorn cattle.
Leo was a volunteer firefighter in the Peaster Volunteer Fire Department, eventually achieving the rank of Fire Chief. His input was the driving force for sustainable funding that would insure the further progression of the fire service in the community. In gratitude for the unending services of the Parker County First Responders, the family held unforgettable summer pool parties including the arrival of helicopters and live bands.
Leo was a devoted husband, loving father, and a friend to all. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Susan; son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Jessie Scott, daughter Lindsay Scott Price and grandchildren Reagan and Logan, all of Weatherford, Texas; his mother in law Shirley Watkins, brother in law Allen Matthews and sister in law Sandy Carson, niece Ashley Carson, and countless friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Scotty and Caroll and his brother Lance P. Scott.
Leo was a natural born “giver” and with prudence and fortitude, he stepped forward, reached out, and served whenever he saw the need. He went above and beyond always. With the power of a smile, a kind word, an ear ready to listen, and a heart full of love, he was born to inspire others, to change people’s lives, and to never give up even when faced with challenges that seemed impossible. He was a mentor. A life lived with God’s purpose – this was his legacy.
Leo’s family and friends were his greatest earthly treasures in life. His love was unconditional and never ending. He made a positive difference in each and every one of our lives. May his light forever shine in our hearts and may we never forget how special he made each of us feel. We have been so blessed.
“Well done, good and faithful servant . . . enter into the joy of your Lord. Matthew 25:23
“Let me do all the good I can, to all the people I can, as often as I can,
for I shall not pass this way again.” – John Wesley
