Leo officiated at Ralph's and my wedding in 1980 and after Ralph died in 2017, Leo called me now and then from Canada to let me know he cared.  I miss him and hope his family is remembering him happily today.

Geri Rhodes

Thinking of you, Leo, as I often do when I cook a big meal for friends. We both shared food as a love language and I often feel your presence when I am in the kitchen.  Last night we hosted a Passover seder, it was the kind of meal you would have loved. I carry you in my heart.
Leo, we're still using that tortilla press you brought us from Socorro back in the 70's. You'll get it back when I get up there. They've got corn flour, right? Miss you, man.

When I think of people that I miss who have passed from this life, Leo is the first I think of.  He will always be missed.
An important anniversary and time to reach out and connect and honor the opportunity to carry the memory of Leo into the moments, days and months and years.

He is remembered and many are thinking of you and your family.
Warmly

Leo was just lovely! I send my deepest condolences to Janis and the kids. Another brilliant star lights our sky.
Dear Janis,
I'm holding Leo, you, and your family in my heart today on Leo's birthday. I remember Leo best as a sweet man so supportive of me after Ralph died and so proud of you and your accomplishments in Canada.
Love,
Geri
Dearest Janis and family,
I have wanted to share my condolences with you and have been finding the words difficult. I have always been so fond at seeing how your family support each other in your life endeavours, I remember setting up for CATS ethics classes and Leo carrying all the art material, helping us set up, being there at the end of the day to help take down. Leo's kindness was so evident in our brief interactions, my heart aches for your loss, sending you so much love, thinking about you often, and hope there will be a time soon when I can give you a big hug
Dear Janis and family, I am so dreadfully sorry for your loss. My fondest wishes that you will find strength in knowing what a lovely and kind man he was. Much love, Helen Forti

Thinking of you Janis and family and holding you close to my heart everyday. I’ve been thinking about your visit to Vancouver and so many lovely times shared in Montreal. You and your family are so inspiring and wishing you lots of resilience and moments of peace during this time 💕
Dear Janis and family,
My heart is with you during this time. My memories of Leo will forever be linked to the creation of community spaces. He was the quietly amused, curiously engaged, remarkably supportive presence smiling out in warmth at and in community - which never failed to remind me to breath and enjoy the moment. I am so glad that I was able to meet him and experience that. On behalf of myself, Anthony, and the LivingRoom community we send all our love. xoxo
To Leo’s loving family. May your hearts find peace in the fond memories that you each hold of this good, happy man.
Dear Janis, Anna, Elise and Arrien,
We are deeply saddened by the news of Leo's passing, and we send our sincerest condolences. He was one of the kindest and most generous men we have known. He lived his life according to a belief he embraced: “Teach only love, for that is what you are.” Leo was a teacher and a giver of love, and he saw the love in those he met. We honor him and the love you, Janis, and he shared. Please be gentle with yourself.
Love,
Pat Dolan & Tom Selby

I am so saddened to hear of this news and my heart goes out to you in this uncomprehensible time, please accept my sincerest condolences and know that you are much loved and supported in the Montreal and Concordia community and beyond! Reading the poem and about the MenSheds project was inspiring and seems to be a beautiful way to honour your partner and father. You are in my thoughts, wishing you love and light in the coming days.
