Lee's obituary

In Loving Memory of Lee Roy Peters Jr.

February 22, 1947 – February 15, 2025

Lee Roy Peters Jr., a beloved friend, and pillar of the Cotulla community, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, just shy of his 78th birthday.

Born on February 22, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, Lee spent his life rooted in the rugged beauty of Cotulla, where he built a legacy of hard work, generosity, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Lee was a man of many talents and passions. After graduating from Wharton Junior College, he earned his real estate broker’s license and went on to run his own business, the Cotulla Fish Hatchery and RV Park. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase two fishing cabins in Alaska, a testament to his love for adventure and the natural world. Lee also became a licensed pilot, soaring through the skies with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life.

A true outdoorsman, Lee found joy in fishing, hunting, and boating. He believed in living life at a slower pace, savoring the beauty of nature, and fostering that same appreciation in others. Whether he was on the water, in the woods, or simply sharing stories with friends, Lee’s love for the outdoors was infectious.

Lee was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty. He was a good friend to many, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. Though he could be stubborn at times, those who knew him best understood that his heart was always in the right place. Lee’s legacy is one of hard work, compassion, and a life well-lived.

Lee is survived by his brother and sister, nieces and nephews and his many friends and the countless lives he touched throughout his years in Cotulla. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love for the outdoors, and his ability to bring people together.

A celebration of Lee’s life will be held April 5th, 2025 at the First Church of Cotulla.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the Texas Park and Wildlife Foundation honoring Lee’s passion for fostering a love for nature and the outdoors.

Lee Roy Peters Jr. lived a life full of purpose, joy, and connection. May his memory inspire us all to slow down, appreciate the beauty around us, and cherish the people we hold dear. Rest in peace, Lee. You will be forever missed.
