Layla's obituary

Layla Nichole Foy, 14, of Burlingame, California died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles after a seven year battle with cancer.

Layla was born on September 4, 2001 in San Francisco, California to Patrick and Carrie Foy. She grew up with her four siblings in Burlingame. Layla adored dance and dreamt of dancing for pop stars one day. Layla attended Washington Elementary School, Burlingame Intermediate School, and was a a few weeks away from starting her freshman year at Burlingame High.

Layla is survived by her parents, Patrick and Carrie Foy of Burlingame, siblings, Alison, Mackaila, Collin, Finnegan, Eloise, Maeve and Genevieve Foy of Burlingame, her grandparents Patrick and Melissa Foy of Riverside, Finnegan and Louise Rosser of Palo Alto, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 in the morning on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church immediately followed by a graveside service at St. John’s Cemetery in San Mateo. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:30 in the morning also at Trinity Lutheran Church and a celebration-of-life lunch will be held at Layla’s favorite restaurant, Broadway Grill at 1:00.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and More than Four.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for working tirelessly care for all of the children there in the hope that someday, stories like Layla’s will be a thing of the past. The family would also like to thank the communities of San Mateo, Palo Alto and Burlingame for their support of the entire Foy family, as well as the dedicated fans of Layla’s cousin Mackenzie who have reached out to them with nothing but love and well wishes following this tragedy.

Loss is only temporary when you believe in God, so go dance with Jesus. We love you, Blue Eyes.
