Lawrence W Thomas, 82, of Lakeland, FL passed away peacefully on December 4, 2023 while at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland, FL.
Lawrence was born in Flint, Michigan on March 27, 1941 to William A and Eva M (Delauter) Thomas.
He lived in Fenton, Michigan and was raised by his father William and step mother Duretha “Penny” in Fenton. With his younger brother Bruce, and two step sister’s Jean and Sharon. His grand parents Beulah Thomas Gilbird and Henry Gilbird also had a home next door.
He attend Fenton schools and graduated from Fenton High School, 1959.
Lawrence served in the United States Navy, served in Can Tho Vietnam as Yeoman Second Class (1960-1967) and on the USS Pinnacle (Minesweeper).
On July 31, 1961 in New Hampshire married Gabrielle Vachon, later divorced in 1975. They had 2 children, Laurie and Bonnie.
He was employed by Alied Transportation as a CDL Truck driver hauling cars and then retired.
On October 13, 1979 in Michigan married Lorraine “Pat” Abbe. They had 1 child Tina.
Lawrence had a blended family whom he welcomed into his new life with Lorraine in 1979.
He enjoyed watching sports; playing cards, computer card games, UNO, cribbage and golfing.
He was known to work hard in his job and was a proud veteran and grandparent. He loved going out getting Bre’s nails done or getting a milkshake with River and Bre. Playing UNO with Matthew and talking about basketball with him.
He loved all three of his children, Laurie, Bonnie and Tina equally.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Bonnie and Joseph Loubier of Litchfield, ME. Four grandchildren: Heather Loubier of Colorado, Matthew and Rachel Thomas of Lewiston, ME. Breanna White and River Wilmouth of Georgia and great granddaughter Paisley.His brother Bruce and Tamae Thomas of Fort Worth, TX. Cousins Dale Thomas of Davison, MI and Wayne and Diane Thomas of Gaylord, MI. Many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by both spouses, his daughters :Tina White and Laurie Thomas, both parents, step sisters : Jean Cardona and Sharon Lawson, and grandparents.
Ashes to be spread per Lawrence’s request.
