Lawrence "Larry" Schafer, 76, of Dayton passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Larry grew up in Dayton. He was a graduate of Fairview High School class of 1965. He worked at Avery Dennison as an engineer for 47 years. He enjoyed mowing his grass, basketball, football and golf. Larry will be dearly missed and always remembered as a prankster. Larry was predeceased by his parents Lawrence "Rusty" and Elaine Schafer, sister Donna Schulze, cousin Brenda Northcutt, brother in law Paul "Curly" Pearson, niece Jill Tobin, and beloved grandson Cole Schafer. He is survived by his wife Jill Schafer of 50 years. Beloved doodle dogs Tug and Muggzie. Children Ryan Schafer, Jason (Angie) Schafer, and Samantha (Ian) Anderkin. Grandson Collin Schafer. Inherited granddaughter Hazel Brokaw. Sister Charlene Pearson. Brother in law Ronald Schulze. Numerous nieces and nephews. Larry requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Larry’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his life at Miami Valley Memory Gardens on November 17th at 1pm. A gathering of family and friends to follow the at the home of Jason and Angie Schafer.
