It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Papou on January 4, 2026. Lorne is lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Jean, and his children and their families: son Greg with his family Jessica, Ryan, and Katie; daughter Deborah and her husband Ryan with their children Rodger and Samantha; daughter Cheryl with her children Chelsea, Tayler, and Rachel, and their families; and daughter Laurie and her husband Iain, and their son Francis.

Lorne dedicated much of his life to his work as a longshoreman, serving proudly as President of the union during his career. Upon retirement, he and Jean moved to Shuswap Lake, where Lorne spent his days enjoying the outdoors—tending to his garden, maintaining his yard, and fishing whenever possible. For many years, he and Jean traveled south for the winter, creating cherished friendships with fellow snowbirds. Recently, they relocated to Vernon, where he continued to enjoy the beauty of his surroundings.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026. The event is private, but those seeking further information are welcome to request details by invitation or email.

Lorne will be remembered for his hard work, his love of family and nature, and the warmth and generosity he shared with all who knew him.
