With tender hearts, we announce the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Jensen, who passed peacefully August 9, 2023, surrounded by his family. Larry's journey reached its peaceful conclusion after a brief battle with cancer, just a few months shy of his 90th birthday. While he missed that milestone, he made every moment of his 89th year count, through travels and time shared with family and friends.

Born on December 10th, 1933, during the Great Depression, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Larry was the eldest son of Lawrence and Lorraine Jensen. Though his parents and brother Gordon have passed on, Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and connection. His brother Donald was with him at the end.

Larry's journey of service began with his time in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Cold War. He later returned to Europe, learning Dutch for his 3-year mission in Holland for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Larry married Jean Sieverts and together they had 4 children: Coralie (Mark Harless), Michael (Becky Gibb), Steven (Jennifer Conner), and Cathy. The tapestry of his life was further enriched with eleven grandchildren: Andrew, Jennie, Zack, Ryan, Janelle, Matthew, Chad, Scott, Chelsea, Jenna, and Tagert. He was proud to live long enough to know the next generation too: Henry, Bennett, Brooklyn, Elizabeth, Christian, Ella, Summer, Bridger and Sadie.

Larry's professional path led him into the world of insurance, where he excelled in claims management and fraud investigation. He retired in 1994 to embark on a new chapter he really enjoyed. Grand jury service, globe-trotting adventures, golfing and time with family spent between his homes in Rocklin, San Diego and Tahoe brought him great joy. Larry's passion for golf meant carrying his clubs to many continents. He developed dear friendships in Thailand along with a taste for mango sticky rice. Since San Diego was his favorite spot to live he is remembered there with a plaque on Mt. Soledad that meant a great deal to him.

A memorial service, a tribute to Larry's enduring spirit, will take place on Friday, September 8th, at 10:00 am at Newcastle Cemetery, 850 Taylor Road, Newcastle, CA.

As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember his strength, and love—a man who embraced life's journey with joy. We all believe this next adventure is one he will enjoy immensely.
