It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lawrence "Jack" Hinton Bledsoe on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the age of 89. Jack was a smart, witty, loving, and compassionate man who dedicated his life to his family, friends, and country. Born in Winston-Salem, NC on January 1, 1934, to John Eaton Bledsoe and Marion Fulp Bledsoe, Jack grew up in a large family with six siblings. His strong work ethic and determination were evident from a young age, as he juggled various jobs while enjoying time with his loved ones. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." Jack certainly lived his life by this philosophy.

Jack's remarkable life journey was filled with noteworthy accomplishments. He graduated from James A. Gray High School in 1952 and later joined the US Air Force, where he steadily climbed the ranks to retire as a Chief Master Sergeant. During his time in the military, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Professional Aeronautics and a Master's degree in Airport Operations from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, graduating with honors, Summa Cum Laude. His dedication to his work was evident in his numerous awards and decorations throughout his military and civilian careers. Jack's commitment to excellence did not stop with his own achievements; he was a mentor and inspiration to many of his colleagues, helping them reach their full potential.

Outside of his professional life, Jack enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests, including reading, crossword puzzles, and watching game shows with his wife. He was a proud member of the Fort Bragg Masonic Lodge # 667 and Sudan Shriners, where he was a devoted 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Sudan Shriner. Jack also loved country music, with favorites such as Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and George Jones. Above all else, Jack cherished his family and friends, always putting their happiness and well-being first. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Bledsoe, his children, Dawn Langevin (Rick), Chris Bledsoe (Deborah), Larry Bledsoe (Kim), and Marcie Ware (James), his brother, Wayne Bledsoe (Deborah) who is the only surviving sibling, as well as six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Please join us in remembering Jack Bledsoe and celebrating his life during the viewing at Adcock Funeral Home on Sunday, June 18th, from 2-4 pm, and the funeral service on Monday, June 19th, at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at the Sandhills State Veteran's Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
