Larry's obituary

Lawrence E. French (16 December 1954-13 April 2023) Resident of Redding California.

Lawrence (Larry) French passed away Thursday 13 April 2023 in Sutter Hospital, San Francisco, CA, following a long and courageous battle with liver cancer. Larry was 68 years old. He was born in San Jose, California to the late Eldon and Juanita French of Farmington Missouri. He is survived by his loving wife Lynne (nee Rothwell) and both of their children. Their Son Christopher French of Redding and their Daughter Heather Brunelli of Anderson, Ca (Joseph). He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren, Bailey Brunelli of Redding, James Brunelli of Anderson, Jace French of Redding and Ashlynn French of Redding and two Great Grandchildren, Alaya Crites and Oliver Crites both of Redding. His two brothers David French (Eileen) of Carson City Nevada and Ronald French (Melinda) of Davenport Iowa also survive him. Larry and Lynne were married in Reno, NV on October 27 1973 and were happily married for 49 years. Following their marriage Larry and Lynne lived in Sunnyvale CA , where their daughter Heather was born. Larry worked at Kashmir Carpets and floor coverings (a business his father founded) until 1976, when he and Lynne moved to Igo, CA. His son Christopher was born in Igo shortly after their move. They subsequently moved to Redding in 1988. Larry eventually established his own business (Kismet Carpet) serving the Redding area, and finished his career as a Project Manager at Hanes Floors of Redding. Larry loved music and family and friends. Most of all he loved time spent with family. He loved the “Grateful Dead” and tie dye and all things ‘60’s. Larry loved going to concerts, and movies and would talk excitedly of time spent at concerts or Starwars or other movies with his children and grandchildren. Walks in the park with his family were a great joy to him. He was a great dreamer and organizer and last year organized a reunion of cousins who had not seen each other for years. The reunion, held in Missouri, was to honor the roots of the family and the founding grandparents. It was a roaring success, and reestablished family bonds that were in danger of being lost. He was loved and admired by all who knew him, and Love was his guiding principle. Larry was a Christian who loved his Savior, and all who knew him knew that he understood so well what the Apostle Paul wrote when defining love towards others. He was a “Corinthians 13 Man” in his thought speech and action. ………

1 Corinthians 13

4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Larry had a positive effect on everyone he met. Never afraid to say a good word to any stranger or to generously help when he saw the need. Larry will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love him. His remains were placed in the care of Blair’s funeral home of Redding and await scattering. A Celebration of Life service is anticipated sometime in the near future. Family and Friends will be notified of the date. Lynne has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Larry’s name to help cure liver cancer.
