Lawrence's obituary
Lawrence "Larry" Brumwell, born in 1949, passed away on August 5, 2024. An accomplished man of many talents and interests, Lawrence's life resonates with the loved ones he left behind.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved daughters, Michelle and Natalie Brumwell. He also leaves behind his sister, Joan Strand, brother-in-law, John Strand, and his nephews, Adam, Tyler, and Stefan Strand.
Lawrence was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn Brumwell, and his father, Arthur Brumwell, both of whom held immense importance in Lawrence's life, shaping him into the man he was.
Lawrence had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs Puff, Daisy, Wicket, and Meeko, who brought him immense joy and companionship throughout his life.
In 1972, Lawrence graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He had a successful engineering career in Colorado, Illinois, and Florida until 1988, when he transitioned to owning and managing Davidson Blueprinting in Lakeland, Florida. He continued in this role until his retirement in 2013.
Lawrence cherished his life in Lakeland, deeply appreciating his neighborhood, neighbors, and home of almost 50 years. He had a particular fondness for home-grilled chicken, steak, and vegetables. His ideal days were spent gardening while smooth jazz played in the background.
Lawrence enjoyed a range of recreational activities, including skiing, cross-country running, swimming at the beach, gardening, grilling, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, neighbors, and his dogs. He was also an ardent supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His love for nature and adventure was reflected in his chosen vacation spots, which included the sunny Florida beaches, scenic Colorado, and the tranquil Appalachian Mountains.
Lawrence was a man of strong character, known for his honesty, dependability, loyalty, and adventurous spirit. His economic savvy, strong-willed nature, and keen sense of justice defined his personality, making him dearly loved and respected by those who knew him.
His legacy, characterized by fairness and kindness to others, is one that will endure. Lawrence "Larry" Brumwell will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
