LaVar Joseph Bair, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away suddenly in his home on Saturday April 11, 2026. LaVar was born on January 6, 1951, to John and Olive Bair in Logan, Utah. He grew up in Lewiston, Utah where he learned the value of hard work on the family farm. He attended Lewiston Elementary; North Cache Junior High and graduated from Sky View High School in 1969. He later attended Utah State University where he earned a drafting engineering degree.

As a young man, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He faithfully served a two-year LDS missing to the Kentucky-Tennessee mission where he made lifelong friends. After he returned home, he met his sweetheart Shannon on a blind date and later married her on April 26, 1974, in the Logan, LDS Temple. Together they built a life in their Lewiston home where they raised their six children. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a devoted scout leader for many years helping many young men earn their Eagle Scout Award. He held several other callings in the church, one of them being a nursery leader which he adored and requested not to be released from. He also served a Member Leader Support (MLS) mission in the Ogden, Utah Mission with his wife. They were fortunate to be the first senior missionaries to serve in the new Lewiston Stake.

LaVar was a state certified welder. He owned and operated his own business where he built many buildings, hay sheds, cow stalls and mangers. For a time, he shifted to running a trencher for irrigation pipes and doing a lot of cement work. The last few years of his business he began manufacturing parts for large companies. He had his business Tripple Welding & Construction for 20 years. Everything that he built or repaired was done with perfection. He wanted to make sure that what he did would last forever. He was always kind, honest and full of integrity in all his dealings. After his business he worked at Autoliv for 22 years. After retirement he was always excited and willing to help family and friends whenever he could. He was a Jack of all Trades. If you needed something he was ready and willing to do it.

In his younger years he had a love of bowling where he earned several trophies in competitions. He loved racing his 1966 SS Chevelle at the Bonneville and Pocatello Racetracks. He always preferred country music. He loved camping with his family up High Creek. He also had a passion for hiking and playing with and teasing the grandkids.

He is survived by his wife Shannon, his children Jennifer (Jayson) Pond, Kent (Angie) Bair, Kathryn (Chris) Kemper, Jonathan (Cara) Bair, Heather (Jaume) Wahlen, Richard (Karli) Bair, 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Margo Stepp, and his brothers Alan and Glenn Bair. He is preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother Robert Bair.

LaVar will be remembered for his unwavering testimony, his generous loving heart, his devotion and love for family, and his joy in serving others.
