She was born at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Fulton County on March 6, 1964. She was raised in Decatur, GA where she attended Shamrock High School and was a member of the drill team and various clubs/ organizations.
She loved her family BIG. Her strongest desire in life was for her children and family to be healthy, successful and happy. Her newest, and probably favorite title was "Gammie." Her four grandchildren gave her life another new purpose, and she took such pride in it. Like most, she had to overcome many personal challenges, but continuously held her head high and trusted God with His unending grace.
She loved animals. She volunteered at a local animal shelter. She loved her dogs Gizmo and Gracie like her children, prior to their deaths. When asked what her dreams are, one of her responses was "to save all the animals." Her last social media post referenced donations of towels and old bedsheets to animal shelters.
Laurie loved fashion and was always dressed to a "t." She even accessorized every outfit with a different shade of lipstick and purse daily. She took pride in her appearance and décor in her home.
Laurie attended Freedom Church in Milledgeville, GA where she was active in many groups within the church. She loved worshiping her God. She also kept a journal of prayers, thanking God for her life, her health, her family and for giving us His son to die for our sins. There is no doubt she is worshiping with Jesus today.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Laurie's life on Thursday, October 10, 2024, 3:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville, GA. The address is 1400 Farmington Rd.
