Laurie Jean Southerland, 65, passed away on January 18, 2026, at her home in Acworth, Georgia, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 15, 1960, Laurie lived a life as beautiful and warm as she was. Her life was a testament to her kindness and her deep care for others.

Laurie is survived by her children: her daughter, Taylor; her two sons, Daniel (wife Alex) and Jordan (wife Kaitlyn); her grandson, James; as well as four brothers and one sister. The love and devotion she had for her children was extraordinary—they were her pride and joy.

Her gentle and nurturing nature extended beyond people to the animals she loved so dearly. Laurie had a special place in her heart for all of her dogs and her cat, caring for them with the same devotion, patience, and unconditional love she gave so freely to others. 

Her kind spirit was reflected in her steadfast belief in treating others as one would like to be treated. This golden rule was not merely a saying to Laurie, but a way of life. Her genuine understanding of and respect for others, regardless of circumstance, made her a cherished friend and a safe place for many.

In her passing, Laurie leaves behind a legacy of kindness and open arms. Her warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her unwavering loyalty, her compassion, and her capacity to love unconditionally. Her values and lessons will continue to inspire and guide those she loved, keeping her memory alive in their hearts.
