Lauren's obituary
Lauren Kay Moore, beloved wife, devoted mother, and steadfast friend, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on September 6, 2025, with family by her side after a courageous seven-year battle with colon cancer. She was 39.
Lauren was born on February 19, 1986, in El Paso, Texas, the youngest of five children. She enjoyed the benefits of being the baby of the family, though she never liked the title. She had a happy childhood growing up in the 1990's when kids rode bikes, played outside all day and had neighborhood adventures with friends she would treasure throughout her life.
After graduating from Franklin High School, she attended college in Rexburg, Idaho earning her associate’s degree. She then moved to Provo, Utah, to complete a program in aesthetics. While attending Brigham Young University – Idaho, Lauren met the love of her life, Evan Moore, when they were paired together in a campus social group. They often joked that they were MFEO (made for each other) taken from a corny line in one of Lauren's favorite movies. They were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on December 20, 2007, a blustery day that turned into a snowy night made perfect with thousands of Christmas lights twinkling through the storm outside the reception hall.
Lauren and Evan lived in Idaho and Virginia before settling in Colorado, where they have spent the past 13 years. She worked in the self-care industry for a time before stepping into the role she wanted more than anything – motherhood.
Her deep faith in Jesus Christ shaped every part of her life. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many different capacities, teaching children, youth, and adults, working in the Fort Collins LDS Temple, and leading women and girls to understand their divine worth and improve their relationship with their Savior. Even during her illness, she served with dedication and zeal, always believing that she could do all things through Jesus Christ.
Lauren loved to decorate her home and wanted to make it not only beautiful, but a place where all would feel welcome and comfortable. It thrilled her to visit home stores and garage sales hunting for and finding the perfect item to complete the room, wall, or mantle…as long as it was on sale! She was an avid journal keeper, filling stacks of books documenting her family’s events, adventures and blessings from God. She wrote a blog and kept mounds of photo albums full of wonderful memories. She loved music and would often play the piano or guitar or sing at the top of her lungs with a pretend microphone until her children would roll their eyes and say, “Mom, you’re so embarrassing!” much to her delight.
Lauren was endlessly creative and resourceful, always putting together the best Halloween costumes and helping her children create A+ school projects. Lauren made learning a central part of her family's life. She spent many hours with her children at the library, instilling a love of reading. She enjoyed taking them to museums and musical productions, enriching their lives through education and the arts. She loved the sunshine and being outside and in the past few years, she became a watercolor artist and was inspired to paint the beautiful flowers and landscapes in the world around her.
Above all, Lauren’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and caring for her family. Lauren’s devotion to her husband and children was unwavering and unmatched. She placed their well-being above her own. Lauren is survived by Evan, her husband of nearly 18 years, their children, Simone (14), Harrison (12), and Eleanore (10); her parents, Eric and Cheri Adams; brothers, Aaron and Ryan Adams; and sisters, Alison Robison and Kristen Graham. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, joy, beauty, and love that will continue to bless untold lives.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6521 Carmichael Street, Fort Collins, CO 80528. Friends and loved ones may visit with the family from 10:45 -11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
Because of Lauren's devotion to learning and her hopes for her children's future, in lieu of flowers the family invites those who wish to honor her memory to consider a contribution to an education fund for her beloved children, helping to carry forward the dreams she held for them.
The service will also be streamed via Zoom (details to come).
