Laurel's obituary

Laurel Chiara Holliday, a beloved mother, sister, and Speech-Language Pathologist, passed away on April 8, 2023. Born on September 7, 1962, in New York, NY, Laurel lived a life full of laughter, love, and learning.

She attended South Side High School in Rockville Centre, NY, graduating in 1980. She then pursued her Bachelor’s in Marketing at Hofstra University, graduating in 1988. Furthering her education, Laurel earned her Bachelor’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Florida in 1994 and her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University in 1999.

Laurel dedicated her career to helping others as a Speech-Language Pathologist, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless children. She also took great pleasure spending her summers as a Program Leader and Host Mom with the foreign exchange student program, Education First. In her free time, she enjoyed watching movies, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She was known for her hilarious storytelling, witty humor, and vivacious spirit.

One of Laurel’s greatest pleasures and proudest accomplishments in life was motherhood. She is survived by her daughters, Sara Lily Chiara Holliday and Sophia Grace Chiara Holliday, sister Justine Chiara, sister Jennifer Chiara, and niece Isabel Chiara McBride. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Geraldine Chiara.

Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in Jesus, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Her faith comforted her and enabled her to maintain that positive spirit we all knew and loved.
