Laurel's obituary
Laurel "Tom" Harris, 72, of Moberly, MO passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 at The Bluffs in Columbia, MO.
Laurel was born on January 2, 1950 to Billy Gene Harris and Madge Elnora Hood in Bonne Terre, Missouri. After graduating from Desloge High School in May of 1967 he joined the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Traffic Controller until 1978, spending time in Thailand and South Korea during the Vietnam War. Laurel was a force of nature. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his children and always tried his best to support them. Anyone who knew Laurel knew that he was a kind and gentle soul who often enjoyed the simplicity of things in life. Laurel was a passionate outdoorsman and could often be found fishing, hunting, or rappelling when he wasn’t at home. He loved to tell a good story around a campfire. He was also passionate for teaching and taught many hunter safety courses and served as commander of the local Civil Air Patrol.
Laurel was predeceased by his Mother Madge Elnora Komar and Father Billy Gene Harris. He is survived by Dad Andrew Komar Jr. and Jeannie Komar of Moberly, MO.
