Laurance's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurence "Larry" Shields on December 6, 2024. Born in 1978, Larry, as he was fondly known by many, was a man of exceptional character. He displayed an enduring preference for his given name, Laurance, and carried it with grace throughout his life.
Laurance brought joy to everyone around him with his affectionate, "sweetheart" personality. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel good about themselves, which was one of the best lessons he shared with those fortunate enough to cross paths with him. His presence was a comforting sanctuary, a place where his loved ones found reassurances and acceptance.
Laurance was a man of simple pleasures. He had a deep appreciation for the escapism found within the realm of superhero TV shows. They brought him joy and sparked countless lively conversations. His love for leisure extended to his favorite vacation spot, the serene and picturesque Friday Harbour. Laurance's love for these leisurely pursuits will be remembered by all who shared these passions with him.
He is predeceased by his loving father, Brydon (Joe) Norman Wylie Shields. Laurance's memory will be cherished by his devoted mother, Nancy Shields, and his brothers, Lee and Lance Shields, who were always his stalwart companions. Their shared moments and experiences are cherished memories that will be carried forward.
Laurance's passing is a deep loss to us all, and he will be profoundly missed. In these moments of sorrow, let us remember Laurance for the wonderful man he was, a beacon of positivity, and a true sweetheart. His spirit will continue to live on within each of us, reflecting his enduring legacy.
