Lauran “Laura” Mary Young beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on September 15, 2024, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born on June 22, 1952, in Escondido, CA to Emil Arthur Johnson and Hazel Agnes Johnson.

Laura was a graduate of Escondido High School class of 1970. Laura worked most of her life as a certified nursing assistant. She was a kind and caring person with a passion for taking care of others. She retired after a long career at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, OR. Laura lived most of her early life in Southern California. She moved with her family to Southern Oregon in 2002. Laura moved to Oklahoma City in 2022 to be near her daughter. In the last year of her life, Laura experienced the joy of being a grandmother. Laura enjoyed giving hugs and kisses to her granddaughter Sophia. Laura was an animal lover. Three memorable pets she loved were pugs Scrappy and Lucky and a tuxedo cat named Lucy.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents Emil “Art” Johnson and Hazel Johnson and her brother James “Jimmy” Johnson. She is survived by her ex-husband Thomas Young, daughter Christina Troxtell, son-in-law Adam Troxtell, granddaughter Sophia Troxtell, sister Cynthia “Cindy” Johnson, and her many nieces, cousins, and in-laws.

Laura will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido, CA. A celebration of life will be held in June 2025 in Escondido, CA. In lieu of flowers please consider making a gift in Laura’s memory to your local animal shelter or animal rescue.
