Laura's obituary

Laura Jean Moser Silbernagel, born in Bismarck, ND, on August 22, 1956, died at 45 years of age on September 20, 2001, as a result of injuries from a car accident in rural Sioux County, North Dakota. She completed her education at St. Joseph’s Elementary School (Mandan), Mandan High School, Bismarck Junior College (criminal law), and the University of Mary (Bismarck, teaching degree).

Laura worked at a number of jobs related to her educational training: the North Dakota State Penitentiary, the Morton County Jail, the Mandan Police Department (dispatcher), Bismarck Junior College Online Teaching (English), and the North Dakota Research Center (Mandan). She loved life on her farm south of Mandan (with husband Urban and son Kye) raising goats and registered Columbia sheep. This love extended to her many horses, cats, and dogs on the farm.

Laura was a devoted, loving mother to Kye, and she worked with foster children at her farm. She also was a fun-loving friend and a spontaneous, free spirit. She lived life to the fullest, always finding new and vibrant adventures. Laura was a natural at bringing people together, building a group of friends wherever she went. She also found joy in taking care of friends, living her life with faith in God, and discovering the unknown, such as a new thrift shop, restaurant, or creative exhibit.

Laura is survived by her son, Kye A. Silbernagel (Bismarck), her former husband, Urban A. Silbernagel (Mandan), her brother, Paul K. Moser (Chicago), and her nieces Anna Moser Walsh, Laura Moser Beder (both of Chicago), and Carly Moser Schlosser (Mandan). Her parents (now deceased) were Kenneth J. Moser and Helen J. Moser (both of Mandan), and her youngest brother (now deceased) was Carl J. Moser (Fargo). Two noteworthy surviving relatives are Bernadette 'Bunny' (Moser) Greig (Mandan), and Georgia (Wetzstein) Cantwell (Osage Beach, MO). A special surviving friend is Karlotta Greig (Mandan).
