Laura's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we the Doe, Bropleh, and Dixon families announce the home going of our grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend Laura Tete Doe-Dixon. She transitioned home to our father on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Monrovia, Liberia.

She was born on July 5, 1967 at The Maternity Center, Monrovia, Liberia unto the union of Benjamin Tugbeh Doe and Annie Nudeh Bropleh Doe. She graduated from Monrovia College in 1987. She started her employment career at Ministry of Internal Affairs as a cadet. She relocated in 1998 to the Unites States of America and started her life in Pennsylvania. She began her professional career at Melmark Inc. and worked simultaneously at Elwyn Inc. She was resilient and diligent in her work. After thirteen plus years of service to others, she decided to become more active in her growing business as a Wedding Planner, Coordinator and Caterer.

She followed the same service mindedness in her personal life as her professional life. She was a humanitarian, community activists, leader, and prominent member of many prestigious organizations. She was the President of The Women of Substance association since its inception and through fundraising and community donations made contributions that directly influenced young people’s lives. Her annual “No Girl Left Behind” initiative provided tuition scholarships to young girls in Liberia. This scholarship also provided books and uniforms for those students. This was a passion project of hers and she looked forward every year to going and seeing the students smiling faces. It was commonplace to see her after school helping with homework and playing with the students. Her organization also held an annual back to school drive at which time, they provided approximately three hundred to six hundred book bags to low income families. Her other roles included being a member of The Knight of St. John Ladies Auxiliary (St. Bridget 528), The Kings Daughters, Gardnerville Association in America, and The New-Kru Association.
