LaTrecia's obituary

LaTrecia Byford Jeffcott was born May 16, 1941 and went to be with Jesus on June 16, 2023 just one month after her 82nd birthday. LaTrecia lived her life studying God's word and always strived to be a better person and a better Christian thanks to her mother Eva and stepfather Jack Crayton. LaTrecia was born in 1941 to Carlyle Byford and Eva Green, went to school in Electra, TX until her senior year when her family moved to Breckenridge and she graduated from Breckenridge High School. Soon after graduation she married Jesse Amason in July 1959 and had 3 children: Robin, Tina & Jason Amason. LaTrecia later married Kenneth Jeffcott who had 2 children Jordan & Jenni Jeffcott. LaTrecia & Kenneth lived in DeSoto, TX while working at TV Guide and attending college at Mountain View College where she was on the Dean's List. They moved to Connecticut in 1981 where LaTrecia went back to college for finance & marketing, joined a sorority and because the VP of a local bank. Their travels took them from Connecticut back to Bedford, TX then to Hot Springs Village Ark, the farm called "Home Again" in Athens, TX and finally moved to Granbury, TX in 2021 for the "Last Phase". LaTrecia loved to write and journal her everyday thoughts & life experiences in addition to naming her homes.   Her writings were quite eloquent and profound. LaTrecia also loved to read and paint; mostly flowers, birds and scenery. She shared this love with her granddaughter Tifani who speaks fondly of the times they painted together. Her best and favorite painting was of her son Jason and his son Dusty Lane.  

LaTrecia was also known  as Terry, LT, Mom and most lovingly as Gram. She truly loved and adored her grandchildren. in addition to grandchildren her love was for animals. Buddy, her black & white rescue dog, was her baby and thanks to Shawn Clark Gram would be very comforted to know Buddy went to a good home. LaTrecia would always feed the birds, she loved hummingbirds, make homes for feral cats, watch out for the strays and rescue whatever she could. She also love wildflowers and gardening. While living in Athens she because a Master Gardener. LaTrecia could grow the largest sunflowers you have ever seen and always had a patch of bluebonnets in memory of her mother Eva. 

LaTrecia was preceded in death by her parents Carlyle & Alice Byford, Eva & Jack Crayton, her beloved brother Royce Byford, James Byford & Wesley Byford.  She was survived by her husband Kenneth Jeffcott, her 3 children Robin, Tina & Jason, her grandchildren Tifani Skye, Jesse Dylan & Dusty Lane Amason, her step children Jordan Jeffcott & Jenni Clark, 12 grandchildren & 8 great grand children (2 more coming soon), her sisters Jackie Johnson, Deborah Kay Mixon & Marlene Griffin, her brothers David Byford and Daniel Crayton, in addition to extended family that she loved dearly Kenneth Holland, Christy Ruyle, Lisa Davin & her childen, Mary, Michelle & Robert Byford. 

LaTrecia will be remembered by her family & friends on August 5, 2023 at 2 pm. The service to be performed by Pastor David Schatte at Our Savior Lutheran Church 1400 N. Meadows Dr.  Granbury, TX. This day would have also been her 46th wedding anniversary to Ken and the day her daughters were baptized. Please join us in sharing the love and stories we had for her.
