Lars's obituary
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 23 in Green Mountain Falls, Colo., for Lars Hakan Iggsten, late of Oakley, Kan. Mr. Iggsten died July 3, 2022, in Oakley as a result of a heart attack. He was 72.
Mr. Iggsten was well known as a classic car and motorcycle restoration specialist.
He was born July 12, 1950, in Ludvika, Sweden, to Torgny and Barbro Iggsten. He attended schools in Sweden and first came to the U.S. in 1967 to discover the country that he always wanted to visit and live in, and perfected his vehicle restoration business. After restoring classic cars and motorcycles, he frequently shipped them to Sweden for re-sale.
Over the years, he lived in various locales, including Joliet, Ill., Hemet, Calif., Moab, Utah, Lawrence, Kan., Manitou Springs, Colo., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Wetmore, Colo., before settling in Oakley, Kan., several years ago. He cultivated a wide network of friends throughout the U.S., and would frequently return to Sweden.
Mr. Iggsten is survived by his long-time partner, Cheryl Ahrens of Oakley. Also surviving is his daughter, Crystal (Mrs. Daniel Miller) Iggsten of Tampa, Fla.
Other survivors include a grandson, Aiden Iggsten-Miller of Tampa; his former wife, Tess Bentayou, also of Tampa; two stepsons, Jason (and wife, Kelly) Ahrens of Minnesota and Josh Ahrens of Kansas; a brother, Per (and wife, Margareta) Iggsten of Västerås and numerous other extended family members in Sweden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Iggsten was cremated, and his ashes will be spread in Colorado and in Sweden.
A Celebration of Lars’s Life will be held Saturday, July 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lake Park pavilion in Green Mountain Falls, Colo., west of Manitou Springs.
