Larry's obituary

Larry Butler of Knoxville, TN formerly of Blackwood NJ passed away on Tuesday, August ,10 2023. Born in Camden NJ to the late Russell Butler and Mary Williams, he graduated from West Philadelphia High School Class. Larry married his high school sweetheart, Marry Miller, and they were happily married for more than 34 years before her death in 1987. He was active in the Blackwood community, especially in the volunteer activities of the First Presbyterian Church and the Lions Club Auxiliary. He worked for the Cigna Company for many years.

As an athlete and cheerleader in his youth, he never lost his love of competition and enthusiastically supported her children, grandchildren, at their many games and activities that he attended. In his later years, he moved to Knoxville, TN he loved spending time, hosting family as often as possible, riding his bike around the neighborhood, and enjoying happy hour with his many good friends and neighbors. He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.

He was beloved by his kids, grandkids thanks to his cheery personality, his sense of humor, his genuine warmth toward friends and strangers alike, and most of all his kind and generous soul. He was known to say “my cup runneth over,” and to invite loved ones to watch the sunset because it was “good for the soul.” He had a wonderful life and a big family that she loved so much.

Husband of the late Mary R. Williams. He is survived by his children, Linda Butler & her husband Phil, Son Leland J Butler, grandchildren, Owen Butler, John Butler.

Family will receive friends, 12:00-1:00 p.m., Saturday August 19, 2023 at Mount Zion Church; funeral service.

Interment Mount Olive Cemetery
