My mother Carol Jones, Larry's sister, always loved Larry so much. Larry would still call her Sis when they spoke. My late brother Doug and I would go to Quapaw in the early 60's and Jerry and Larry would take us to the boxing gym in Baxter Springs (I think), and show us how to box. Gus Burggraf would always be hanging around us with Larry and Jerry. I think we learned how to smoke and drink beer back then. We were 6 and 7 (haha).

When I was in second grade I spent the weekend with my brother at Larry and Jerry's Discount Tire Store in Tulsa. Larry raced a BMW motorcycle at the Tulsa Drag strip that Sunday. I was so proud.

I will always remember the Christmas' in Quapaw when I was a small boy. Everyone was so alive and animated. A crowded house with Burggraf lineage thru and thru. A real Norman Rockwell poster for sure.

I'm glad I was able to stop by Larry's store in KC twice in the last year and visit. He's with Jerry now and the rest of those who went before him. My Mom Carol turns 88 on Monday. She suffers with dementia so bad now she barely knows me. She would be happy to know I will be in attendance on Sunday at the services honoring her little brother.

See You on the other side Uncle Larry!

With love,
Rod Jones

In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with Larry?"
I have so many mixed emotions…
I have so many mixed emotions about the passing of my Uncle Larry. I am glad he is at peace without pain, but I am going to mess him more than words can express. I have so many wonderful memories of Larry and how darn funny he was. My heart is so sad with his passing. I love you Uncle Larry!
A wonderful human and world-class character, we remember Larry and are grateful for his many years of kindness, mechanical advice and trustworthiness with our family and our extended family who all had the same experience. We will continue to support the business but every time we walk through the door, we will still hear his voice and smile, grateful to have known him. Condolences to all who loved him. Chuck, Terri and the Haddix Family
Philip& Gloria, I'm very sorry for your loss, Larry was a good friend to me and Norman ,I loved it when I went to visit him at the tire store, sometimes I didn't want to leave but I had to take care of my dogs, I just recently found out about his illness from Rusty I only wish that I had gone back to see him, He always was good to me and I'm going to miss him very much, he was like a brother to me
I have such great childhood memories of my grandparents and all my uncles. Larry was so close to my brother that was killed .When Doris and Bill would bring us home Jerry and Larry would hide Ronnie when it was time to go back to Texas. They didnt want him to leave. I truly loved all my Burggraf family. My mother Doris was his big sister. RIP
