Background
Dear Family and Friends,
I want to thank everyone for their ongoing love and support. As I struggle through the myriad tasks in front of me, I have been slowly learning to lean more on others. As a former RN, and as a mother, and wife, and as a family member and as a friend, I was always the one to help others before helping myself. After getting over my own hesitations and doubts, I listened to the persistant encouragement I was receiving from others, to set up this fundraiser. Many of you have experienced the similar loss of losing a loved one, and you have shared your own personal stories with me. Others have been deeply impacted by the sudden loss of Larry, as a family member, as a friend, and as a coworker. Why did I create this fundraiser? Some of you may wonder about this. When I found the Everloved website, I was just trying to find a simple and special way to let people know about my husband's death. This website has all sorts of ways to help someone maneuver through the endless tasks that need to be done after someone dies. I found the fundraiser element, as I explored the website.
Larry and I had a dream of building for us a small houseboat to live in as we got older. We had put our heart and soul into this project. I had had some funds left from my own career a a psych nurse, and I had put this happily toward our dream. Due to a myriad of chronic health conditions, I have not been able to work for several years. Larry had continued to work as a stage hand, and those earnings went to the ongoing building of the houseboat, the rented space for the houseboat, and the rental fees for the slip for the simple boat we have been living on in our marina. My income covered the
cost of our daily living expenses, like food, numerous utilities, payment for a car, etc. On a simple practical level, I have lost the
income from Larry's social security and his work. The houseboat is not livable as it is right now, There are no funds to finish it. Someone really wanting to have their own houseboat, and to built one, maybe would be interested in buying it. That is a
big question. I have faith that things will work out, they seem to do that in such circumstances that I find myself. I shall see. So, this fundraiser is to help me pay for his cremation, a simple memorial for him, and to help me through the transition from having Larry by my side, and working toward a shared goal, to being alone, and adjusting to an unknown financial future and stability for myself.
We all help each other in this life, and that is a really comforting thing. If anyone wants to donate to this fundraiser, it is humblely appreciated. This reminds me of a popular song from many years ago. One lyric reads, "I get by with a little help from my friends."
Thank you for all your love and concern. We all have times when we need that more than anything else.
Sincerely,
June Bridenbeck Contribute
