Larry's obituary
Larry Bernard Baker Sr. was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on December 17, 1955, and departed this life on August 23, 2021, at his home in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
During his young adult years, Larry served in the U.S. Army. He lived life to the fullest, often impacting others by his presence. Larry was a diligent worker and a “jack-of-all-trades.” During his later adult years, he most loved traveling with his wife, in search of rare antiques and collectibles, and then beautifying the collectibles to be enjoyed by others. He was particularly fond of and had a passionate enthusiasm for caring for his plants. He enjoyed collectible rare marbles and vinyl records and LPs.
As a member of the Come As You Are Evangelistic Center, where the pastor is Evang. Lydia Jones and Assist. Pastor Arvetra Jones, Jr., he served in many capacities. He was a man who exercised great faith, even in the midst of what seemed to be unsurmountable obstacles – even unto death.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Mack James Baker and Nealie Jane Williams Baker; and his biological mother, Hannah Graham Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice Jones Baker of Southern Pines, NC; two children K’Hendra Baker and Larry B. Baker, Jr. (born to former wife, the late Mary Ann Baker-Leonard), both of Rochester, NY; three sisters, Maxine Baker, Dianna Baker Monroe (Joey), and Julie Baker (Alfonza); two brothers, Illie Baker Sr. and Brent Baker Sr.; 6 grandchildren, Nor’Riece K. Jones, Car’Rie D. Jones, Nevaeh C. Jones, Jah’Ni L. Baker, Larry B. Baker, III, and Zahkai D. Baker; aunts, Veela Graham Baker, Annie Ruth Williams Bullock, Martha Williams Moses (Charles) and Dorothy Williams Hair (Marshal); two godchildren, Rakeem Henry, and Monique Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
