Larren's obituary
Larren Dale Gessler, born September 28, 1955, in Evansville, Indiana, passed away after a long and resilient life marked by perseverance, generosity, and deep love for his family.
Larren was the son of Ruby Virginia Harris and Edward Frances Gessler. He was preceded in death by his siblings Bobby Gessler, Tonya Gessler, Susie Gessler, Ernie Gessler, and his stepbrother Noah Slankard. He is survived by his brother, Gary Gessler.
Larren was the proud father of two daughters: Holly Elaine Gessler and Kristina Marie Picciotti, who is married to Philip Picciotti. He is also survived by his grandchildren Channelle Mariah Allen, Arianna Nicole Picciotti, Daniela Marie Picciotti, Josef Peter Aranki, and Michael Matthew Sweeney. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Dimitri Philip Picciotti, Oath Huse McBride, and Zion Antonio Aranki.
Larren was married to Rhonda Sue Martina (Gessler, now Tank) on December 1, 1972. They were married for approximately 35 years. She was his only wife, and he did not remarry after their divorce.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Larren had a deep love for fishing and often competed in bass fishing tournaments. One of his favorite places was Lake Pleasant in Arizona, where he spent countless days fishing and making memories with his family. He also enjoyed playing pool, playing the guitar, watching sports, attending baseball games, and—most of all—helping others whenever he could....even during times when he had very little of his own to give.
Larren worked as a mechanic for most of his life and owned his own garage for a time. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves during the 1970s. Later in life, he transitioned into real estate, where his work ethic and straightforward nature continued to serve him well.
A true survivor, Larren beat the odds by surviving nearly 20 years with prostate cancer, demonstrating quiet strength and determination throughout his journey.
Larren will be remembered for his kindness, his mechanical skill, his love of the water, and his willingness to lend a hand. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
