2020, PRIMI Pasta & Wine Bar, Main Avenue, Durango, CO, USA
My dear friend Laney, I am devastated that you are gone and by the way that your life was taken. But rather than try to find meaning in this, I will instead try to focus on remembering you and how lovely you were. I have always admired you. In fact I put you so high up on a pedestal that I was intimidated to ask Justin for your number years ago and more intimidated to meet up with you for our first glass of wine together. But you were so sweet and humble and we quickly became friends. You were my support and cheerleader all last year with PRIMI and my co-host for many wine workshops. You motivated me to be creative and think outside the box. I loved how you would drop in to say hi and have a glass of wine, even if it was in the middle of the afternoon and you were solo. Confident, poised, intelligent, put-together, friendly and beautiful on the inside and out. You volunteered your time to better the community without making a big deal about it. You were artistic, had an eye for beauty and loved to create. You loved animals and treated your dogs and chickens like your babies. You also loved my baby girl and always treated her with genuine fondness. Perhaps my most “sophisticated and balanced friend”, you were equally comfortable dressed up for an evening of fine dining as you were in hiking shoes and a hat, ready to climb a mountain. You had a way of describing wine and the story behind it that enhanced the enjoyment of it immensely. So many things will remind me of you and I will cherish each memory. I will think of you every time I appreciate the simple beauty of nature and every time I slow down to really taste the wine in my glass. Forever in my heart. May you Rest In Peace. ❤️
