Dean Brunner was truly the type of man who lit up a room and would give you his absolute undivided attention.
The first time I met him was at the meet and greet for pharmacy school candidates. He approached my mom and I because we were both being shy wallflowers. After talking for several minutes, I asked him what subject he taught and he sheepishly answered, "Well I don't teach.." In a split second my eyes darted to his name badge then back to his face. "Oh! You're the Dean!" It had not even occurred to me that the easy going, amiable guy we were casually chatting with was the Dean of the Pharmacy School.
Dean Brunner was also incredibly genuine. He would ask a few students every semester to meet with him occasionally for lunch so he could get to know the student body, ask how things were going, and bounce ideas off of us. One such day, when I was in the group, he was the only one who had ordered a salad, and he explained that his daughter was trying either a vegan or vegetarian diet and he wanted to support her. I remember thinking how easy it would have been for him to just eat whatever he wanted when he wasn't at home, but he was dedicated to giving a sincere effort.
I wish his family healing and comfort. We are all blessed for having known him.

Dr. Brunner was one of the most kind-hearted people in his profession. For being a dean, he was readily involved in the success of his students. He made pharmacokinetics fun to learn. He would share his random quips in between lectures that would add to the learning experience altogether. It has been a great privilege to have him as a dean and teacher. Sending my prayers and condolences to his family and friends.

I met Lane the day we walked together at our high school graduation. I remember his great smile and he made it fun. I wondered why we hadn’t met before, yet there were 600 students in our class. I will always remember him and that day. My deepest condolences to Lane’s family.

I really admired Lane. He taught me about team-based learning, and I always enjoyed talking with him about teaching. U T Tyler became a little less shiny when we lost Lane. I taught Jordan, whom I used to jokingly call “Professor Bruner”, and I could tell what a great father Lane must’ve been. I’m really, really sorry that you all have had to suffer in this way. Please know that anyone who knew Lane will never be able to forget him. Catherine Ross (UTT English)

Our condolences to Molly and family during this difficult time.
Lane was so supportive and encouraged our kids to do and be their very best.
One funny memory we have of Lane was on a Sunday afternoon after shooting in CA, he had locked his keys and phone in the car( Prius)!
He ended up walking back to our home , a 3 mile walk, and was nice and sweaty!
Sara answered the door saying” Dr. B. Why are you here?” We then spent hours trying to find a locksmith !

I had the privilege of being Dr. Brunner's student while he taught kinetics. I had so many questions and struggled at first to understand the concepts. I would always go to his office to ask him questions he would patiently explain the concepts to me and get excited when he saw that I was getting it. Seeing him around the school with his smile and positive personality was a huge blessing. He was an amazing dean and really tried to get to know the students who attended the school. The world of pharmacy definitely lost a treasure. Praying peace over his family and friends.
