Lance's obituary

Lance Paul James Wonch-Setright (19), originally of Rawlins, Wy., passed away suddenly on April 25, 2024. Lance lived a life full of adventure in his short 19 years on this planet. He was one of the kindest and most likable people one could ever meet. He was charismatic and charming and a loyal friend. He enjoyed mechanics and riding or driving anything with wheels. He liked to go camping and often spent time at his Poppy's lake house at Seminoe when he was younger. He and his sister Valerie also lived many years outside of the country in Managua, Nicaragua with his great-aunt Aynn, his great-uncle Guillermo, and their two sons Camilo and Gabriel. Lance became fluent in Spanish during his time in Nicaragua. As a pre-teen, Lance moved back to the United States to live with his father Bob, his step-mother Amy, and his siblings Dominic, and Makayah in Fort Collins, CO. In his teenage years, he learned how to weld and he built go-karts and various other projects. He loved to shop for and collect shoes, especially Nike sneakers. Lance was known for his goofiness and for his ability to make people laugh.

Prior to Lance gaining his wings, he had settled in Summit, South Dakota and landed a job as a diesel mechanic. Given Lance's love for all things mechanics, this job was perfect for him and he was really invested in learning all that he could. He loved the scenery in South Dakota and he loved the friends he made at his job. Lance truly felt like he had found the path he was meant for and was so happy with the direction his life was taking.

As the saying goes: "Your wings were ready but my heart was not."

Lance was preceded in death by his mother, Erin Setright of Rawlins, Wy., and his grandfather, “Poppy" Paul Setright also of Rawlins. Lance leaves behind too many loved ones to list. They include his father and step-mother Robert & Amy Wonch, of Fort Collins, CO., his sister Valerie Setright and nephews Jayden & Logan Williams of Rawlins, WY., his sister Makayah Sauceda & brother Dominic Buchholtz of Fort Collins, CO., His grandparents Donna and Michael Pipher of Hanna, WY., his maternal grandmother Beverly Rochelle of Laramie, WY. His grandparents Frank and Mona Inskeep of Nunn, CO., numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both maternal and paternal sides, and countless friends from South America to South Dakota. Lance was loved by all who knew him and will be missed more than words could possibly describe.
