Lakshmi's obituary

Lakshmi Sadasivan, PhD, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 14th, 2023, supported by her loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband Easwara, her loving sons Prashanth and Sunil, their wives Aishwarya and Avanti, her grandsons Sahas and Arav, and her siblings Sundari, Raji, Babu, Suresh and Mangala.

Born in New Delhi, Lakshmi was one of six siblings who grew up in a happy household that placed a high value on educating women. Her mother, who had been denied an education herself, instilled this value in her children. Lakshmi's father, a union leader at British Airways, was a constant advocate and supporter of her ambitions.

Lakshmi received her Ph.D from Mumbai University and in 1981, came to the US. She did her post-doctorate work at Rutgers University. She quickly became an industry leader in microbiology for paint coatings, working for Rohm & Haas, Dow Chemical Company and Solvay. After being laid off from Dow during the 2008 Financial Crisis, Lakshmi courageously started her own lab, Siva Microbiological Solutions, LLC, alongside her husband. Despite being a small, family-run laboratory, Lakshmi earned the trust of many Fortune 500 clients such as Pittsburgh Paint Group, Dow Chemical, and Corning, Inc. In 2023, Lakshmi collaborated with the Environmental Protection Agency to develop new test method industry standards.

Lakshmi was a loving mother, grandmother, and spouse. She had instilled strong spiritual values that guided her throughout her life, and passed those values on to her children. She taught Bala Vihar, children's Sunday School, at Chinmaya Mission for 25 years.  She was an avid gardener and loved to cook for others.

We invite her family and friends to attend her funeral to pay their respects to a remarkable woman. Funeral details are listed below.

With love,

Sunil, Prashanth, Easwara, Avanti and Aishwarya
